Today I created a tag book for a friend in need of a pick-me-up. What better way to brighten one’s spirits than to send a book filled with flowers, bling, and hearfelt sentiments?
Acrylic Covers – Embellished |
I wanted to make sure that the book was durable, so I used thick white chipboard for each of the pages, then layered carefully embellished acrylic covers over the front and back panels to create a lovely layered effect.
Front And Back Covers Before Acrylic Covers Are Added |
I chose the papers, embellishments, and sentiments used throughout the book with these challenges in mind:
Creative Crew – Let’s Get Cute And Girlie!
Gingersnap Creations – GC63 Random Redhead Challenge – Sunshine
Practical Scrappers – Use Summer-Themed Products
Sir Stampalot – Bring On The Bling
Tuesday Taggers – Sunshine
Wild Orchid Challenges #3 – One For The Girls
Front Cover – Chipboard Base Plus Acrylic Cover |
I used CTMH Purple Pansy Dye Ink to distress and accentuate the edges of the covers, pages and stamped images throughout the book.
Pages 1 And 2 |
If you create a tag book of our own, pay special attention to page orientation during the design process. Because this book lifts open, I designed the pages so that the recipient can easily read the pages as they flip upwards. So, as you look at the pages, the odd-numbered pages represent the top half of the book when the recipient opens it, and the even-numbered pages represent the base.
Pages 3 And 4 |
I stamped the sentiment on Page 1 from CTMH’s D1153 Because Of You My Acrylix Stamp Set. I stamped the Page 6 image of the praying girl from Sweet N Sassy’s #1049 Child Of God Acrylic Stamp Set. I colored the images throughout the book using Tombow Markers.
Pages 5 And 6 |
The tags, papers, and unidentified stamp images are from Stamping With Loretta. If you don’t have a die cut machine, she is currently creating monthly kits centered around various templates in her Sizzix collection!
Back Cover |
I hope you enjoyed peeking into my friend’s tag book, and use this as inspiration to create one of your own! It’s the perfect way to use up some scraps and to brighten the day of a loved one!
