I’m Moving To WordPress

Happy Weekend dear friends! This month’s theme at Creative Every Day is Metamorphosis, and I’d like to take the opportunity to share a major change my blog is going through. If everything goes according to plan, I will be migrating to WordPress within the next few days. It’s been a long journey, and I’m looking forward to completing the process!

The decision to move from Blogger to WordPress has not been an easy one for me, and it has not been one I’ve taken lightly. For months now, I’ve weighed the pros and cons of staying versus moving. I’ve read everything I could find on the topic, interviewed people who have made the move and learned from their experiences. I’ve even taken classes on the subject! I’ve researched everything from hosting companies to migration specialists, from designers to frameworks! Some days, I’ve thought my head was going to explode! But, moving slowly has given me the time to ask the right questions, make the right decisions, and get comfortable with the process.

I’ll share more about my experience once the move is complete. In the meantime, if there is anything you would like to know about moving from Blogger to WordPress – leave your question on this post! I will do my best to answer them in an upcoming article after the move!

Have a fabulous week and wish me the best. I’ll keep you posted on my migration schedule!

    Hi Bethe,

Yes, if things go according to plan, all of my followers should transfer over, so you should have no problem continuing to follow me thru GFC, your RSS feeds, and e-mail!

If for some reason we run into glitches during the process, I will let you all know (and beg you to resubscribe when the glitches are worked out, lol!)

Thanks for your sweet thoughts! 🙂

Sounds like fabulous move. Good Luck. I believe it will be great for the site that you're managing.
My question will be hosting your wordpress blog and why did you chose them?
Who is moving you over to wordpress and would you recommend them to your readers?
Thanks for linking in this week as busy as you are.

I moved my blog a couple of weeks ago after much thinking. I'm glad I did. It was not as hard as I thought it might be. After starting out trying to work things out for myself and struggling a little, I bought an ebook and the rest was a breeze. You can see the link in my blog sidebar if you're interested. Best of luck with it!

Moving to WordPress definitely is work – and you're doing it the right way by researching and learning first. 😉 I have never regretted moving to WordPress, though I never did figure out how exactly to do the redirect from Blogger to wordpress without messing up my feed – so if you have that one figured out, I'd love to know! 🙂 Good luck with your move – you are going to love the extra coolness (and less glitches and down times) of WordPress vs. Blogger. 😉

I contemplate this move so I'll see how yours goes. My blog isn't as involved so it wouldn't be that hard but still, once you establish a spot, moving is very time consuming. Blogger has been driving me crazy for a while so maybe one of these days… Good luck with your move.

With all the problems on blogger, including today, I can see why you are moving. Maybe someday I will be brave enough.

I found you on blog hop and am now a very interested follower.

I tried WordPress before I chose Blogger. It was so difficult to use, but I know more now. I would love to hear more about your experience with moving. Thank you for linking this at NOBH, and for the heads up. =)

    Hi,

my name is Grace and I am your newest follower's from the let get social sunday.
Well after thinking a lot about it, I choose WP because it was the best for me to have both a website and a blog. I was on a french plateform before, so I don't know blogger, but I have some friends who happily move from B to WP.

Will love to hear from your experience.

Come check out my blog and spread the blog hop love too
    wish you a lovely sunday.

Good choice, WordPress rocks! I’ve never understood why it’s such a long process moving over, though. I did it for my sister in 10 mins. I guess an advice for someone thinking of moving to WP would be to not hesitate because of lack of tech skills. There are webhosts with so-called one-click-tools that lets you install WordPress in two minutes by just clicking a button. No need to know either PHP or anything else. I would advice people to learn CSS though, to be able to modify the appearance of the site.
However, i hope you are enjoying WordPress! I found your blog at NOBH.

  17. interesting. something to think about. I’m OK with blogger for now.

    Oh wait.

    It’s a virtual move.

    D’oh.

Well, regardless, I hope it’s smooth moving for you!

I’ll be curious to see what you think when you get there!

    Thanks for sharing this news!

    A+
