Quote Of The Week
Everything a cat is and does physically is to me beautiful,
lovely, stimulating, soothing, attractive and an enchantment.
Paul Gallico, from An Honourable Cat
Happy Wordless Wednesday, dear friends! I have always been enchanted by cats with big tails, and Maine Coons sport some of the fluffiest tails in town! I love this shot not only because it shows off Tsunami’s magnificent tail, but also because of the cool effect of the sunlight dancing through his fur!
A cat’s tail is more than just a crowning ornament to be admired, however. It’s also one of his prime means of communication and self-expression! Here’s a few basic tips on how to determine what your cat is telling you through his tail:
- When your cat comes running to you with his tail high up in the air, it shows he is happy, confident, proud – the master of his domain.
- When your cat’s tail is high and quivering, he is excited.
- Fast swishing means an attack is imminent – you may see this when he is hunting or angry!
- When your cat lowers his tail and tucks it between his legs – particularly when combined with slouching behavior – it indicates submission or fear.
