Release Date: October 4, 2011
ISBN: 9781594745218
Could you use some cute and creative ideas for crafting on a budget?
Are you enchanted by tiny trinkets and all things small?
Would you love to turn ordinary scraps and household items into miniature works of art?
If so, you will want to get your hands on Microcrafts – Tiny Treasures to Make And Share! This beautifully illustrated hardcover, compiled by Margaret McGuire, Alicia Kachmar, Katie Hatz and Friends, is the latest craft offering from Quirk Books – publishers and seekers of all things awesome!
Microcrafts consist of 25 projects that are created using ordinary materials and a variety of crafting techniques. What makes the book unique is that each craft project is no larger than a spool of thread. One project actually teaches you how to transform small wooden spools into Kokeshi – small, Japanese-inspired dolls painted on wood. Imagine what whimsical delight these dolls would add to your home!
No matter where your creative interests lie, there’s a project for you in this book!
If you love paper crafting, you can perfect your paper piecing skills as you create Miniature Greeting Cards and Envelopes. You can also fill your library with teeny tiny Books, and dazzle your friends with the intricate art of Quilling!
If sewing is more of your thing or you like playing with fabric, felt and ribbon, you can create a line of Monster Babies, complete with accessories – or fill your home with little Cats, Dogs, Ladybugs, Bumblebees and Butterflies! You can even while away the hours by whipping up an itsy bitsy, teenie weenie, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini!
If you’re a foodie, you can dress up your desserts with Bunting and liven up your next party with little Speech Bubbles!
If you’re a fashionista, you can accent your wardrobe with handcrafted Candy Charms, Fabric Buttons, and Flower Pocket Pendants!
If you’re a free spirit, you can walk on the wild side with a few temporary tattoos – they’re fun, they’re frivolous, and they’re short-lived!
If you’re a homeschooling mom or dad, you can use these projects to supplement your children’s daily lessons! Combine science and art by showing your children how to create a Planet Mobile. Teach them about wildlife by helping them build Thistle Bird Feeders out of straws. Keep them physically fit by taking them on nature walks, where they can collect tiny twigs to use in creating an entire Menagerie of Animals!
Microcrafts is a beautifully photographed and illustrated book. Each project features a full array of color photographs, plus detailed supply lists and instructions. The projects are alphabetically listed for your convenience. Supplemental sections on Supplies and Techniques, Ideas for Modifying Microcrafts, and a Resource List are also provided.
If you’re interested in creating tiny works of art, quick and easy craft projects, or repurposing existing items into things of beauty, Microcrafts is for you!

I leave the crafting to the experts I just make a mess of things, but it sure sounded interesting. Thanks for sharing. Already following. Stopped by from Follow Friday at Java’s. Have a great weekend.
Intriguing – I don’t have the patience for fiddly little things – the latches on necklaces drive me crazy, and ear ring clasps – Grr! ;D You are so blessed with your abilities ! Thanks for linking up. Shah .X
Love the idea of taking simple things and putting it together. I also have an interest in photography which is a perfect mix.

Great Review. Thanks for the resource. I love crafting with recyclables.
I love creating minitures. I once made a pair of glasses for my doll house dolls out of wire from twist ties. The glasses folded up and everything.
I’ve never heard of microcrafts. How fun and enchanting.
So cute! I love the idea of teeny-tiny books.
Oh what a great book! I love to make crafts although I don’t make nearly enough time to make them. I tend to make more in winter when my back keeps my “indoors”.
