One Thousand Gifts Journal – Dedication Page

Pinterest

Today I’m starting a Gratitude Journal. The idea isn’t a new one; for years, I’ve been tossing this concept around. But recently, author Ann Voskamp inspired me to create a Gratitude Journal that focuses on the theme of One Thousand Gifts.

It’s my hope that the pages of this journal will overflow with:

A thousand things I am thankful for…
A thousand gifts that God has blessed me with…
A thousand prayers and praises to my Heavenly Father…

The time is ripe for me to embark on this journey of thankfulness –
To actively express appreciation for the gifts God has given me
Instead of grumbling for the things I lack.

And so, as I begin this journey
I dedicate this book to my Heavenly Father
As an act of praise, worship and thanksgiving.

I am excited to see where this journey takes me.
I can already feel the winds of transformation stirring within my soul.
And so, the journey of a thousand gifts begins…

A Personal Note

Thanks to all of you who have expressed offered words of support and encouragement about this project! Because of your interest, I have decided to share portions of my journal online. Today I’m sharing the first entry in my new gratitude journal – the Dedication Page – and I’m participating in the Random Journal Day Link-Up and Scripture Sunday.

Visiting from The Sunday Community – congratulations on starting up your 1000 Gifts Journal! Enjoy – and may it be a wonderful journey for you! I have loved counting gifts in this way, for several years now … what a great dedication page (and verse)!

This is an awesome idea! There is so much lovely out there if we only choose to look. To be still and see the goodness. I love that you are going to take time to write it down, so that on days when it is hard to see through the ugly you can pick up that journal and remind yourself just how wonderful life is and to be thankful! I use my blog actually A LOT for this, but I too have just recently started a journal/scrap book!

    Have a blessed Sunday!

I promise!!! Many blessings to you and I can not wait to see your list begin. I will definately be back to see it all unfold.

  7. Had a peek at your new journals… they are beautiful. I love the idea of a gratitude journal too… I’m even considering it an excellent addition to my prayer basket. I have a prayer basket with little ‘helps’ re: quiet time, e.g. favourite study Bible, notebook, marker pens, hymn book, book of Bible promises, small concordance, audio Bible, etc… I just grab my basket and head to my favourite chair for QT. I got the idea for a prayer basket from Rebecca over on Dear Lissy. She has some fantastic study tips and helps too.

Thanks for linking up with Scripture Sunday this week… it’s been a blessing sharing this post.

  8. Ann’s book was a life-changer for me, even at 65 (when I read it) and now I’m on my third read. It’s that great, isn’t it? I was inspired by her 1000 gifts challenge and have been posting my journal online as well. I’ll be praying for you as you begin. Hopped over today from The Sunday Community link up.

I am hoping to restart my 1000 gifts project in January. I got way off track but verbally thank the Lord for 3 things every day. I just can’t seem to ever link it up. Thank you for linking up with Fresh Brewed Sundays!

Gratitude journals are so powerful! I am reading a book about the science of gratitude, and the author quotes some interesting studies. One says if you write down just 3 different things you are grateful for each day, and do that diligently for a matter of weeks, you will see improvements in your mental, spiritual and physical health. Being grateful is an important part of being happy.

I look forward to your entries, and I hope that others are inspired to join you in your journaling as well.

SUCH a good idea. How many times do we think a day “I wish” or “wouldn’t it be nice to have this”, we would all be MUCH happier beings, if we took the time to be thankful. Thank you for sharing!
