Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You To Know – Book Review & Giveaway

Things Your Dog Doesn't Want You To Know

Have you ever wondered why your dog:

  • Chews on the sofa the moment you leave the house?
  • Chases cars and barks at the mailman?
  • Walks in circles, digs holes, and licks you incessantly?

I did too… until I discovered Hy Conrad’s and Jeff Johnson’s highly informative and massively entertaining book, Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You To Know – 11 Courageous Canines Tell All!

Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You To Know contains 115 humorous essays, written in the voices of 11 enterprising canines. Quite frankly, it’s ingenious. Here’s a sampling of the types of tell-all exposes you’ll find in this book:

  • Mixed Breed Moonbeam reveals Why Do I Eat Grass?
  • Axelrod, a Yellow Lab, shares The Human Words I Understand.
  • Gabby, a Long Haired Dachshund, says I’m Not Spoiled.
  • Dimples, the Boxer, reveals The Bed Rules.
  • Tinkerbell, the Chihuahua, reveals her Pet Peeves!

Excerpt 1 From Axelrod

To say this book is funny is bit of an understatement. Here are what some high-profile dog lovers had to say about this book:

I laughed, my dog howled.
Steve Martin

This is the perfect book for anyone who owns a dog, has ever owned one, or knows what a dog is. These guys made me laugh out loud – and captured my heart at the same time. The book is simply irresistible.
Tony Shalhoub, Star of the TV Series Monk

A whimsical delight for dog lovers everywhere, this book will charm and remind readers why they fell in love with Rover to begin with.
Publishers Weekly Starred Review

In addition to the humorous essays, the photography and graphic design, which was directed by Dean Stefananides, is a joy to behold.

Excerpt 2 From Tinkerbell

If you are looking for the perfect gift for your favorite dog lover – or a great book to add to your reference or humor collection – treat yourself to Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You To Know. Both you and your dog will be glad you did!

  6. LuAnn Braley says:

Well, the puppies have learned pack behavior. When the mom used to go into the play area to feed them, they would rush the opening. Now, they KNOW what’s coming when we bring in the bag of dog food and push the play area closer. It’s too funny.

We also have a (very tolerant) cat, but one day last week I saw her hanging from a door jamb after trying to sharpen her claws in the wood and getting stuck. :)=

  7. Jeff Johnson says:
