Wicked Valentine’s Read-A-Thon

Valentine Readathon

I was looking forward to a peaceful weekend. After spending the past few weekends catching up on blogging tasks at the Winter Biannual Blogathon and reading my heart out at the Mini-Bloggiesta, a little time-out sounded glorious!

And then it happened. I received the following tweet from my friend Tanya at Mom’s Small Victories:

@CreateWithJoy1 did you see the Wicked Valentine Read-a-Thon? I signed up!

What’s that, you say? A Read-A-Thon? Just last weekend, Tanya and I were chatting about how fun it would be to join our first Read-A-Thon!

Before I could stop myself, I found myself adding yet another event to my calendar!

Wicked Valentine’s Read-A-Thon Details

The Wicked Valentine’s Read-A-Thon (#WWReadthon) is hosted by April at My Shelf Confessions and is now in its fourth year. The dates for this event are February 7-14, 2013 and sign-ups are open now through February 11.

The purpose is to encourage you to read as much as possible during the event – but even if you can only participate for a day, you are still invited to join! There are also Mini-Challenges, Twitter Parties, and prizes!

Wicked Valentine’s Read-A-Thon Goals

Here are my current goals for the Wicked Valentine’s Read-A-Thon:

  • Attend the Saturday Twitter Party.
  • Connect with as many book bloggers as possible via Twitter and/or their blogs!
  • Update my 2013 Reading Challenges lists.

If you’d like to cheer me on or keep track of my progress during this event, stay tuned to THIS post as I”ll be posting my updates here!

If you are participating in the event – be sure to let me know so I can encourage you too!

  1. Looks like a lot of fun. I just feel like I never have time anymore other than when I am working out (when it comes to reading). I hope that you rock this read-a-thon’s socks off. It really does look like a blast. I’ve always wanted to do one. 🙂 I’m dropping by from the Linking with my Ladies blog hop at Dysfunction Junction. I hope you can stop by for a hello.

Welcome! So glad you’re able to join the #WWReadathon! We’re not exactly in our 4th year (we wish!) but this is our 4th #WWRAT. We usually host about two a year, depending on our schedules – and interest of course. 😀

Our sole focus of the WWRAT is to create a fun and inviting environment for FUN FUN FUN and meeting new friends and new reads. Reading is of course part of it too – as well as the challenges and twitter parties – and who can forget the prizes, but most of all we want everyone to walk away with a sense of friendship and solidarity with their fellow readers and be able to say they had a lot of fun during the week.

See you around Twitter and the blogosphere! SO glad you found us! 😀

      Dear April,

Thank you so much for the clarification (I’ll try to update that when I update my next post!)
Since I am a social butterfly at heart, this sounds like my type of event! 🙂

Can’t wait until tomorrow’s Twitter party. Would like to do Tuesday too but will not know until that day.
Tuesday is always my craziest day of the week!

I look forward to getting to know you better this week! 🙂

  3. Good luck with your first read-a-thon. They are so much fun. I just did Bout of Books last month. I figured since I’m snowed in this weekend I’ll join this one too lol.

Yay! Glad you signed up Ramona, I thought you might like it. I love that it’s a week long instead of just a crazy weekend. I hope to make the twitter party this afternoon, at least part of it, kids willing. Its always easier for me to get quality reading and blogging time in once they are in bed. You’ve accomplished a lot already on your first day. Thanks for the shout-out to my blog and I look forward to keeping up with your progess, cheering you on and chatting it up on Twitter later. Happy reading!

Thanks for sharing! I love readathons. I’m two days late but I’ll see if I can join in. I can’t only read as I have tons to do online and in real life but I do need to do some catch up reading and would like to reconnect with book bloggers so this would be perfect.
