This Week’s Theme Is Gardens

Last week, we shared about some of the New Things we wanted to do this Season.
A number of you shared that  you were thinking of starting your own gardens!

Now, most of us love gardens – but not all of us were blessed with a green thumb!

  • Do you have a green or black thumb when it comes to growing things?
  • Do you currently have – or plan to start – a garden?
  • Are there any public gardens in your area that you’d like to visit?

Share your thoughts, tips and gardening photos with us this Friendship Friday!

For more lovely ideas, follow my Garden Delights Board on Pinterest!

Thank you for hosting! I look froward to finding some new blogs to read. And I love the theme!

Thanks for hosting. I am so excited to start spring plantings. My art therapy column this week features a guided imagery around spring plants and new life, as well as the art process…. maybe inspire folks to get out there and start planting!

That sounds awesome Diane – can’t wait to check it out!

You know, as I was reading your comment, I thought about garden labyrinths…
I wonder if anyone has ever wandered through one of those?

Definitely a BLACK thumb! I’m just not a detail oriented person, so I mow the grass and my husband does the little fiddly things you have to do to get things to grow. Since we moved back to the states we’ve tried to do tomatoes and peppers , but haven’t had much success so far. I’m thinking it would be better to get to know someone who is an AVID gardener and become their GOOD friend! (i.e. be GIVEN the fruit of their labors).

I’m with you Sharon… I love plants and flowers – but my attempts to grow most things have been more black than green…
So, I now content myself with visiting beautiful gardens whenever I can!

I hope people share some of the beautiful public gardens they’ve visited.

One of my favorite gardens are the Ladew Topiary Gardens in Maryland – if you’re ever there, you should look them up!

I could not help but think, as I was writing this post, that life began in a garden…

Our married son and wife have had a membership to the Chicago Botanic Garden for the last two years. We enjoyed going there with them frequently when we visited. Haven’t been to Maryland for a while!

What a gorgeous idea! I’ve only just discovered Friendship Friday. I’m absolutely hopeless at gardening but luckily my youngest daughter now 12 is starting to take an interest so we may have a vegie garden project coming up in the school holidays.

I haven’t done a Friendship Friday before, and I hope I’ve done it correctly! As the theme is gardens, I’ve linked to a post I wrote on the iconic Chelsea Flower Show. I love gardening, and I’m good at some aspects of it, but I would hesitate to claim an actual green thumb 🙂 Thank you for hosting and have a lovely weekend 🙂

I’m delighted that you’ve joined us! There’s really no wrong way to do Friendship Friday (unless you spam us – then you get banned from the list – lol1)

The Chelsea Flower Show sounds amazing! Terrible for my allergies – but then, that’s what allergy meds are for!

      Enjoy your weekend! 🙂

Just spent a delightful quick paced 45 minutes and it started with just on blog post, the picture of Erma Bombeck and then went on and on from there to other blogs until I felt like Alice falling down the hole. I don’t dare see what other writers have written. I need to clean up my room! Thanks for providing this possibility.

I have trouble growing dandelions! LOL I love gardens–especially those lovely English kind. Thanks for hosting Friendship Friday!

  15. Oh my goodness…I love gardening!! Right about now I usually would be putting in pansies and such…but not this year…no job for hubby…no $’s to play with. But…I’m not going to completely be in the dumps about this as I have plans to dig up my primrose and put them in my front window box. 😉 A girl’s gotta do something!!
    Hope your weekend is Extraordinary!

Thanks for your invite! I am sprouting some seeds, so I wrote a story about them and our garden. We have chard ready for another cutting, and our flowering bushes are so beautiful. My lemon tree blossoms are smelling so sweet.

  20. I like to think I have a green thumb – but that usually applies to plants outside vs. inside since Mother Nature usually has my back when I forget to water things. 😉

I almost laughed when I saw, “Gardens” as I am staring out my windows and there is at least two feet of snow on the ground and more is falling… All is white. Even the evergreens are touch with white. It’s hard to have a garden here in the mountains but every year I try to grow a few things – but not until May although I have a myriad of house plants and herbs growing inside… Bless You!

My husband does all the gardening at our house. I don’t enjoy it, but I do enjoy the veggies he grows! Near my daughter;s college there is a cute little public garden that we like to visit in the spring. It’s way to hot to visit in the summer.

Know what you mean about it being too hot to visit in the summer – that’s why it’s such a perfect time to visit in the spring!
How nice that your husband does the gardening and you get to reap the benefits!

  24. Paula J says:

I wish I could say I have a lovely garden to share, but it’s quite the opposite over here. I can barely keep even the tiniest of plants alive, so I truly admire those who have a green thumb 🙂 Thanks for hosting!

    Have a super weekend!

I visit almost every blog and am looking to add blogs to my list of blogs I visit. Thanks!

  27. Lynn says:

Thanks for hosting Create With Joy. I can grow things as long as it’s not what your going to eat. My tomatoes do okay.

  28. Hi, Create With Joy!
I am just beginning to find my way around on your delightful blog. I linked up a few things, and I hope (now looking back) that it fits your theme…:( I see it is gardening. Please feel free to delete anything that doesn’t work for you 🙂 I would love it if you’d link-up at the ‘EOA’ Wednesday at Deep Roots, too. I’d love more creative things!
I will add you to my list of link-ups, but I must wait for my daughter to help me with a proper link ~ she won’t allow me to do that yet 😉
Lastly, I ‘Liked’ your page! Blessings!

Thanks for hosting! We started all of our seeds last month and many are growing quite nicely already. Now, we are just eagerly awaiting for the weather to be good enough for them to go into our garden. I love starting our little garden. 🙂 Have a great weekend.

Hi there! As always, thanks for this, it’s a lovely way to meet new people 🙂

To answer your questions… I can’t say what kind of thumb I have. I’ve not gotten the chance to garden! I enjoy the idea of it…so maybe more green than black 🙂 Also don’t think there are any gardens nearby to where I live. However, I’m moving to own apartment in two weeks so maybe I can have a little indoor garden! 🙂

Hope you have a great weekend! *hugs*

Thanks for sharing your Blog Hop at the Show Off Blog Party :). I do LOVE gardening but it is slowly becoming garden weather out here in San Antonio. You’ll be seeing some garden pots shortly @ The Wondering Brain. We look forward to having you come by again next week 🙂
