Book Review – Tales Of The Defended Ones
When was the last time you found a book:
- So compelling, you could not put it down?
- So moving, it’s bound to provoke discussion among parents and children, teacher and students, husbands and wives?
- So inspiring, it could change your life – as well as those across the globe?
Tales Of The Defended Ones by Beth Guckenberger is one of those books!
Tales Of The Defended Ones is a book of stories about God the Defender and the people He protects. In this book you’ll meet five children who God defended and protected – even when it seemed no one was watching – even when it seemed no one cared.
You’ll meet:
- Ben and Joseph, two Ethiopian boys who lose their mothers but find a family.
- Antonio, a challenged boy who is rescued from a seemingly hopeless situation.
- Caitlyn, an abused girl who learns that the truth will set her free.
- Jorani, who is freed from slavery and delivered into the arms of grace.
Beth beautifully weaves each story together in such a way that one cannot help but see God’s sovereign hand at work. Especially in the midst of difficult circumstances, these stories show how God loves, cares, and provides for us.
The book is specifically designed to facilitate discussions between adults and children about missions and orphans.
I loved each story and did not want the book to end. Whether you are 8 or 80, you will not walk away untouched by this book.
