Class Orientation – Getting To Know Me!
To kick off this extravaganza, we’ve been asked to introduce ourselves, so here’s a little information about me!
Welcome to Create With Joy! I am a US blogger, writer and book reviewer. I love reading! Books have always been a part of my life.
One of the most thrilling moments of my life occurred on the day I learned my ABCs and realized that the 26 letters before me had the power to change the world! Imagine – every word, every thought, every sentence, every paragraph, every book stems from those 26 letters. To me, that is simply miraculous! I knew I wanted to be part of the miracle.
Growing up, I was one of those kids who always had her head stuck in a book! The day I walked into my first library, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! One of my earliest goals in life was to read every book that had ever been written. Imagine my disappointment the day I realized that was never going to happen!
I love all types of books and have a hard time picking a favorite genre because, over time, my tastes have changed, and today, I truly appreciate great writing regardless of genre! In my youth, I loved to “escape” into fiction, and I devoured mysteries, fantasy novels, science fiction, suspense and horror novels. Later, I moved into a period where my main focus was non-fiction of all types. Currently, I’m broadening my horizons and striving to become a more balanced reader. I’ve developed a keen interest in memoirs over the past year or two – and I am always love great animal and travel/adventure stories!
My favorite Non-Fiction book is the Bible, because God’s Word speaks to us during every season and circumstance of our life.
My favorite Fiction book is The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien because, for me, that has everything I could want in a story!
I never tire of reading either of those books!
Read-A-Thon Goals
My goal for this Read-A-Thon is to read a few books, to meet some new book bloggers, to participate in some of the events and challenges, and to have a lot of fun!
Here’s what’s on my reading list for the week:
- Trouble In Store by Carol Cox
- The Original Chicken Soup For The Soul – 20th Anniversary Edition
- The Possibility Dogs by Susannah Charleson
- Defending The Faith – Mary Jo Sharp
I hope to add a few more books to the list, depending on how the week goes!
Day 2 – You’re The One That I Want
Today we’ve been asked to list our must-have summer reading or to share some of our favorite recommended summer reads.
Summer Books I’m Anticipating
Last summer, I read a fabulous story called Harriet Beamer Takes The Bus by Joyce Magnin! This is the first book that I’m recommending to you this summer – and the sequel to this book, Harriet Beamer Strikes Gold (Release Date August 6, 2013), is the summer read I’ve been most anticipating all year!
This summer, I read the first two books the Postcards From Misty Harbor Series – Seaside Harmony and Sunflower Summer by Evangeline Kelley. I’m also looking forward to reading the third book in this series, Whispers On The Dock (Release Date August 1, 2013).
Summer Books I’m Recommending
Here are a few more books I’ve recently read and recommend for your summer reading lists:
- Barefoot Summer by Denise Hunter
- Parallax View by Allan Leverone
- Seeds Of Evidence by Linda J. White
- Stealing The Preacher by Karen Witemeyer
- The Heart Stone by Sherry Kyle
Remember to check back for more updates throughout the week. Happy reading, dear friend!

Looks like you have a great week in store. I really enjoyed reading more about you. What a clever young girl you were, realizing the power of those 26 letters! While I know i wouldn’t get through all the books in the library, I would love to make a dent in the 1001 books to read before I die list. 🙂
Have a great read a thon. I didn’t sign up because I still need to put myself in review-a-thon mode and catch up on writing reviews!

You too! I see The Hobbit made your list! 🙂
I’m a fan of the Chicken Soup for the Souls books. I’m eager to see their Chicken Soup for Bloggers when it comes out (of course, it may already be out and I missed it.) I’m reading several books for the month of July for book reviews on my blog as well. (I normally only do book reviews on Sunday, but this month is going to hold a lot more.)
Looks like you have a well rounded list of books to read. 🙂

Ooh, Chicken Soup for Bloggers? How awesome!
It’s not on my current review list so it is either already out or coming out in 2014.
Enjoy your read-a-thon – thanks for stopping by!
