The Letters – Book Review
Life rarely turns out how you expect it – but even in the midst of life’s unexpected twists and turns, God is faithful – He has a plan for our lives. That is what the characters in The Letters discover throughout the first book of this fabulous new series – the Inn at Eagle Hill series – from best-selling author Suzanne Woods Fisher.
The Letters by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a heartwarming story that will not only thrill fans of Amish fiction, but will also find an audience among lovers of great stories featuring authentic characters facing real life problems!
There’s a large cast of male and female characters in this book that span all generations, giving everyone who reads this book someone they can relate to!
My two favorite characters in the book are Rose and Delia – two women from different worlds whose lives divinely intersect and beautifully interweave throughout the story.
Rose Schrock is an Amish-Mennonite widow who is trying to hold her life and her family together after the mysterious and unexpected death of her husband. Not only did Rose’s husband leave her with five children to raise – one of whom is missing – but he left her with no money and no home, thanks to an investment scandal. As a result, Rose and her children now live with and care for her mother-in-law, the caustic-tongued Mammi Vera – who has a critical word for everything she says and does. When Rose feels inspired to open a bed and breakfast in their home to support her family, both their relationship and Vera’s health deteriorate. At the same time, Rose finds support from an unexpected source – her neighbor, horse trainer Galen King.
Delia Stoltz is the well-to-do wife of Charles Stoltz – the most prominent neurosurgeon on the Eastern seaboard. She has always been the envy of her friends, who believe Delia leads a charmed life. But behind the scenes, things aren’t what they seem. When Delia receives a series of life-changing revelations that rock her world – a chance encounter at a gas station leads her to Stoney Ridge, where she leaves her life behind for a brief respite. But soon, Delia learns that you can only run away from your problems for so long before they catch up with you.
Once you start reading The Letters. you won’t want to stop. The compelling characters and the complex storyline will keep you enthralled from start to finish.
Enjoy your stay at The Inn at Eagle Hill. Once your read The Letters, you’ll undoubtedly return for another visit!
