The Perpetual Papers Of The Pack Of Pets – Book Review

Have you ever wondered if cats and dogs who live under the same roof really get along? Do you ever stop to think what they truly think of one another? Have you considered how your cats and dogs navigate daily challenges such as preventing each other from eating their food, or deal with common adversaries such as the household vacuum cleaner and the vet?

If so, you will love The Perpetual Papers Of The Pack Of Pets – a highly original chapter book in which two household pets share their perspective on various aspects of their lives!

The Perpetual Papers Of The Pack Of Pets contain a series of letters written by two household pets to one another. The series of letters are initiated by Katrina von Cat, the Master of Wisdom and Knowledge. Katrina is an 8 year-old grey tabby who takes great offense when Stanley – the 3-year old black Labrador/Rottweiler mix who resides in her home but whom she has successfully ignored until now– refuses to stop eating her food. When Stanley turns a deaf ear to Katrina’s earnest entreaties, she drags him to Kitty Court, where he is put on trial for his “crimes”.

These letters perfectly convey the character of the authors and the distinct differences in character between cats and dogs! It also sets the stage not only for their ongoing series of letters on various topics of importance to them, but provides a backdrop for the introduction of a few additional characters as well!

I really enjoyed the exchange of letters between Stanley and Katrina and, as someone who has simultaneously shared my home with cats and dogs, truly appreciated the humor in the book! Two of my favorite moments were Stanley’s shock at the revelation of who the Cat Council really is (warning – don’t let your dog see this!) and the scene in which Stanley and Katrina are scrambling to escape their mortal enemy, the vacuum cleaner. Oh, and in case you were wondering how your pets react to your beautifully decorated Christmas tree during the holidays – this book will confirm your worst suspicions!

If your child loves animals, be sure to add The Perpetual Papers Of The Pack Of Pets to their reading list! Cat and dog lovers will delight in this book, and will be counting down the days to the sequel that is in the works!

sounds like an interesting story. Was it made for adults or kids? I think if it’s not too complicated it would make a great children’s story, if not, I enjoy reading what we think pets are saying! I live in the U.S. so a hard copy would be great!
