Up North Adventure Series – Book Review
Are you looking for an adventure series that’s full of wholesome action, excitement and fun and geared towards readers ages 9 through 12? If so, look no further than the Up North Adventure Series by G. M. Moore – a trio of books about a lonely city boy who finds friendship and adventure during his summers in Wisconsin!
These stories focus on Corbett Griffith III – a young boy who feels abandoned by his career-oriented parents in the midst of their divorce. He looks forward to spending his summers playing video games, working on his computer, and taking archeology classes at the local museum – but all of that changes when his parents decide to send him to his Uncle’s fishing resort so he can enjoy the great outdoors!
Corbett isn’t thrilled about this turn of events and anticipates a summer full of misery. But soon, he makes friends and his life changes in ways he could not have imagined in each of these stories!
Muskie Attack is the first book in the Up North Adventure Series. In this book, we meet Corbett begins to expand his horizons – make new friends – and discover the skills and confidence he needs to as he sets out on a quest to capture his father’s attention – and earn his father’s respect – by catching a ferocious, pre-historic beast!
Ancient Elk Hunt is the second book in the Up North Adventure Series. In this book, Corbett (nicknamed Griffy by his friends) has the chance to put his archeological skills to the test as he battles wits with a desperate archeologist in an effort to help a new friend!
Snakehead Invasion is the third book in the Up North Adventure Series. In this book, Corbett is looking forward to returning to Whispering Pines Lodge and spending the summer with his friends – but something is different. Shortly after his arrival, a vicious snakehead fish is caught in the waters of Lost Land Lake. Will this invasive species ruin the lake and the livelihood of his uncle and the town? Or, will Corbett and his friends be able to unravel the mystery and save the day?
As you read, you’ll find that each book in this award-winning series seems to be better than the last. You’ll also appreciate how each educational each book is, and how each story promotes the joy of an active lifestyle!
I enjoyed this series so much, that I chose The Up Adventure Series by G. M. Moore as my choice of entry in the Best Of Summer 2013 Kid Lit Giveaway Hop. For information on how you can win a copy of this series, keep reading!

These books look like they would be interesting reads and I would give them to my younger cousin as a gift, because he likes survivalist type books. I think he could also learn from reading these.

These books would make an awesome gift for your cousin, Kristan!
I learned a lot from reading them and I’m sure your cousin would too! 🙂
Finally, some books for boys!!!! I mean this with best intentions. My son is not an avid reader, because he says there is nothing out there that interests him. He is a very outdoorsy kid. He hunts, traps, fishes and works outside constantly. It is hard to find books that might interest him.
Your books look like books he may actually read.
Awesome!!!!

I went to school with G.M. Moore from elementary thru high school. Not only do I remember her as talented in our younger years, but was blown away that my former schoolmate was just as talented an author. I have read the first in the series, “Muskie Attack”, and was thoroughly entertained. I loved the fact that even though I wasn’t in the actual target age group of reader for this series, that I was totally captivated by the adventures of Griffy and friends and was left wanting more, wishing for more pages when I reached the end of the first book. I would love to win this series to donate to our local library – the kids in my area don’t know what they’re missing. It is time that more children, and adults, were introduced to this amazing series!

Hi Beth,
How cool that you knew G.M. “way back when” – I hope she has a chance to stop by and read your nice testimonial!
I totally agree with your assessment of Muskie Attack, which I read and reviewed earlier this year.
Best of luck in the giveaway – this would be a wonderful addition to any library!

These books look absolutely wonderful for boys, and the fact that you are promoting them suggest that they are wholesome. If I don’t win them I will be looking to buy some for my grandsons who spend far too long on their electronic toys.
