Leaving Annalise – Book Review
There is an audience for every book. There is a fan base for every writer.
Based on the number of positive reviews I have seen for Leaving Annalise, it is obvious that Pamela Fagan Hutchins is a popular writer with her share of both.
Leaving Annalise by Pamela Fagan Hutchins is the greatly anticipated follow-up to Saving Grace – the first book in the Katie & Annalise series. Although I did not read Saving Grace, I was looking forward to reading Leaving Annalise based on the synopsis:
One unexpected and hotly fought-over little boy, two dead bodies, and a series of home vandalisms throw Texas attorney turned island chanteuse Katie Connell into a tizzy. Juggling all of this, Bloody Mary cravings, baggage, and the bad guys too, she waffles between the jumbie house that brought her back from the brink and the man she believes is the love of her life.
Sometimes, however, we end up with books that turn out to be different than what we expected.
Although Pamela brought her characters to life through her distinctive writing style and irreverent tone, I had difficulty connecting with this book. The storyline contained adult and supernatural elements I did not care for, and the book contained more profanity than I thought was necessary.
However – there is an audience for every book. There is a fan base for every writer.
