WOYWW – Christmas Tree Card

WOYWW - Christmas Tree Card

Happy December to you, dear WOYWWers! ‘Tis the season to be festive – and that means decorating anything that doesn’t move!

Here in the States it’s tradition in many households to decorate your home for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. Here in our household, we couldn’t quite muster up the energy to do that – but I did muster enough energy to decorate this Christmas tree!

I’ve long been a fan of those cute paper-pieced trees I see floating across the Internet – so I used paper and ribbon scraps to create this one. I chose traditional but muted colors to give it a vintage feel, and topped the tree with a translucent red dew drop for a bit of brightness. I then hung the Christmas lights with care, using this adorable fabric ribbon from Wholeport!

Sitting in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree brings me joy. Elegant trees are my favorite – what’s your style?

I didn’t decorate the tree this weekend – but I did have fun jazzing up my nails using these fabulous polishes from Julep! If you have time, take their fun style quiz and learn how you can try their beauty products for free!

There’s a sense of expectancy in the air – even Tsunami is Watching, Waiting this week. Perhaps he wants to see who will win one of the 26 Dog-Themed Prizes or other Giveaways listed on my sidebar?

That’s all this week. Have a wonderful time visiting everyone’s work desks!

Aren’t they fun? I am not normally that jazzy – but my husband LOVES them! 🙂

The tree was fun! I might try one another one – maybe in pretty pinks and bright greens – if time permits!

Thanks Bridget! I have that problem too but since I started using Julep’s products I can see a noticeable difference in my nails!
I love their “basic” products. I hope to do a write up of their Maven program one of these days – it’s fabulous – but I just haven’t had the time!

  3. Great card, Ramona! I like the details. But I think the nail glitter stole the show, LOL! Happy WOYWW!

      Thanks Peggy!

Now, here’s a funny tidbit: do you know how difficult it is to actually take a decent picture of your own nails?
I’ve never done this before, and when you’re holding up the camera in one hand – and trying to get everything at the right angle – in just the right light – well, it could make for a great comedy video!

      Have a wonderful week!

Such a fun Christmas card! Love the geometric shaped tree! I especially am loving your nails! (I have sorry nails as I bite them when nervous and I guess I am more anxious that usual this week…) I just love the color and sparkle of the polish!Winnie#70

Thanks Winnie! It’s been forever since I’ve done my nails – mine were in sorry shape too – but I responded to that free offer to try those Julep products and have been hooked!

I used to do my nails in just basic colors – but they have all of these sparkly glitters and holographic polishes you can layer over the regular polishes to get these really cool effects!

Did you know that you can STAMP your nails too? (I didn’t until I started researching some of the cool effects I was seeing!)
I haven’t tried it as of yet – but the wheels have been turning!

Glad you liked the tree! Every time I see one of these I fall in love. Looking forward to doing another one when I have the time!

Your card is fab. I am a fan of the paper piecing style. The nails are great too. Oh and my style of tree is eclectic. Bits and pieces from everywhere and all with memories attached! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  13. Lovely Christmas tree card,it does have a wonderful vintage feel to it! My style of tree is very traditional, decorated with old well loved ornaments, lots of lights, silver garlands and a flickering ‘star’ on the top :O)
Thanks for joining us at Lexi’s Creations!

  14. Seems we have few things in common, Joy. I make cards and collect vintage…which is where I found you, from Melody’s blog and Rednesday. Nice pieced tree!

BTW- I did something similar with my nails…with my stamping products! I’ve used glitter and Flower Soft (flocking.) The flocking really turned out neat…like suede. It was surprisingly durable, too!

  15. Miss Amber says:

This is such a great card! Thanks for joining Loves Rubberstamps Challenge 🙂

  16. PAT MARTIN says:

Love the beauty and simplicity of your card. I put two trees up at Christmas. The one downstairs is where we spend the evening with family over the dinner table. Because of little ones, I decorate it with small stuffies and beanie babies and candy canes. The tree in our living room is filled with ornaments bought each year we’ve been married, as well as handmades from the kids and fellow crafters (oh and me too!).
    Merry Christmas!

  17. Marcy says:

  18. Eliza says:

I am one for setting up the tree on the 1st December regardless but those nails are just about enough of a reason to abort that option and go with the dazzles. Great card.

Such a happy little tree, and I agree about the darling paper pieced trees circulating the internet! I would like to try one soon. Like you, we did not decorate the week-end after Thanksgiving as we usually do, but it was fun making cards and doing other festive things. Your nails look great! hugs, de

  28. samara says:

Hi Ramona: Great card! I love the bars with their grommets across the tree. That is completely brilliant! It is an unusual design and truly – at this point in card making – it is a challenge to come up with an unusual and unique christmas tree! You’ve hit that ball out of the park. The grommets really add a lot. I like the sentiment put sideways. It gives great dimension to your card. It is a make one happy creation. That is a success!!!! Thanks for coming over to POP this holiday season and all the best to you and your family. Samara DT POP
