Graham Blanchard & Callie Grant Books: Little Seed: A Life, Close As A Breath, and Jesus Saves Me

Graham Blanchard Books - Spring 2014

Overview – Books From Graham Blanchard And Callie Grant

When it comes to raising children, one of the most important verses in the Bible is found in Proverbs 22:6:

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Surrounding our children with positive, biblically based books and messages from the earliest moments of their childhood is a crucial part of this process – but, finding resources that suit our children’s needs can often be a challenge.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to Graham Blanchard – a Christian publisher that specializes in “children’s books for growing up in God.”

Graham Blanchard Books - Spring 2014 - Back Covers

You’ll find lots of wonderful resources on the Graham Blanchard website – but one trait that distinguishes their board books from others is their Learn, Absorb, Praise approach to spiritual development. Each Graham Blanchard board book is identified by one of these categories (look for the circle in the upper left hand corner on the back cover).

  • Learn books contain lessons about particular passages of the Bible. They are filled with beautiful photographs and supportive text, and include helpful parenting tips designed to allow the books to grow with your child!
  • Absorb books focus on connecting facts about God with the child’s inner life – enabling children to respond to God on a personal level and to trust and love Him.
  • Praise books celebrate the wonders that children experience in their daily lives – and teach children to respond by praising God for the wonders He has created!

Graham Blanchard just released three new board books by author Callie Grant for their Spring 2014 line-up – one in each of these three categories! Take a moment to watch the sweet video that follows – and then, stay tuned for my reviews of Little Seed: A Life, Close As A Breath and Jesus Saves Me!

Little Seed: A Life – Book Review

Little Seed A Life

Little Seed: A Life is a Praise Book for children ages 0 to 5 that is based on Isaiah 61:51:

For as the soil makes the sprout come up
And a garden causes seeds to grow,
So the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise
Spring up before the nations.

The story tells how Little Seed drifts to the ground one Fall day and Busy Squirrel buries Little Seed so that no one else will find it.

Some might think this is the end of Little Seed’s story but – in God’s great plan – this is really just the beginning.

Little Seed: A Life is a wonderfully affirming story that teaches children that God watches over all of His creation and gives it everything it needs to be safe and to blossom.

The beautiful, bright illustrations will delight parents and children alike.

Close As A Breath – Book Review

Close As Breath

Close As A Breath is an Absorb book – written for children ages 0 to 6 – in which a father answers a daughter’s questions about the world around her.

The book is based on Romans 1:20:

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities –
His eternal power and divine nature –
Have been clearly seen,
Being understood from what has been made…

The story is told in a delightful, rhyme that will help your children understand and appreciate the glory and wonders of the world around them – a world that God created!

Jesus Saves Me (Knowing My God Series) – Book Review

Jesus Saves Me

Would you like to teach your young children, ages 0 to 7, more about Jesus? Then the Knowing My God series is for them – and Jesus Saves Me contains a message you won’t want your children to miss!

Jesus Saves Me contains an in-depth lesson on John 10:14-16:

Jesus says, “I am the Good Shepherd;
I know my sheep and my sheep know me –
Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father –
And I lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.
I must bring them also.
They too will listen to my voice,
And there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

Jesus Saves Me illustrates and explains the metaphors used in this Scripture to children in a way they can understand. The book also contains teaching tips for parents to use with their children at various ages so the book can grow with them!
