Restless – A DVD-Based Study – Review

When it comes to Bible studies, do you find yourself eagerly anticipating new releases from certain authors because you find that their materials have a way of penetrating your heart?

I do.

One of my favorite contemporary Bible teachers today is Jennie Allen. I’ve had the privilege of reading and reviewing several of her books and Bible studies. One of the reasons I enjoy her work so much is because Jennie has a gift for identifying those things in life that really matter to us – helping us to connect with others who share those concerns – and opening our hearts to what the Word of God says.

Restless - Box Cover

Jennie’s latest project is an 8-Week DVD-Based Study called Restless – Because You Were Made For More. If you are familiar with Jennie’s previous studies – Stuck and Chase – the concept is similar. The full DVD kit contains everything you need to complete the study on your own, and to lead the study (participants will need to obtain copies of their own individual study guides).

Restless - DVD Study Kit Contents

The contents of this kit include:

  • 1 Restless Study Guide which serves as your workbook for the course.
  • 1 Restless Lead Guide which contains guidelines for leading the study.
  • 1 8-Session Restless DVD.
  • 1 Box of Ask Conversation Cards.

Restless – A DVD-Based Study is a highly interactive Bible study that helps us to examine the purpose of our lives through God’s eyes. Although the study will take us throughout Scripture, the primary focus of the study is the life of Joseph. By looking at Joseph’s life through some key themes, such as Gifts, Suffering, and People, and seeing how God used these things for His greater good, we begin to examine our own lives to see how God may be using these same things in His continuing story.

Jennie writes:

Every one of us has been given a unique story and unique resources, people, and gifts. We have each been put in specific places in which we are to build the continuing story of God. Apart from the person of Christ in Scripture, no one can demonstrate that like Joseph. So we will follow the journey of a man who was chosen by God for a specific task, but who felt like he was wandering most of his life. But all the while, God was turning Joseph into a man who could ultimately fulfill God’s purposes.

Restless Ask Cards

In her signature style, Jennie’s study incorporates a variety of exercises that will appeal to wide audience of creative learners.

I give this Bible study 5 out of 5 stars.
