Do you remember the first time you were left alone, as a child, and entrusted to care for the entire household? How excited were you by the opportunity to show your parents how responsible you were? Were you eager to make your parents proud of you?

Susan K. Marlow creates an exciting story built around that premise in Canyon Of Danger – Book 3 in the Goldtown Adventure Series!

When duty calls upon Jem’s Pa – the Sheriff of Goldtown – to transport a prisoner to Sacremento, 12-year old Jem is thrilled to step into the role of “man of the house” for the next few weeks. But – it isn’t long before Jem discovers that running a ranch isn’t as easy as his father has made it appear to be!

What happens when everything goes wrong and you must find a way to make everything right?

Young readers will enjoy accompanying Jem through this action-packed book as Jem tries to solve one problem after another – all before his Pa returns home!

Parents will appreciate a quality story their children – particularly their sons – will enjoy!

This exciting historical adventure lends itself to dinner time discussions and family field trips!

We’re still 6 years away from this sort of book in my house, but they sound like a nice selection for the elementary school audience. I remember that I loved historical fiction at that age–learning about what life was like for the people that lived before me was so interesting. And as an adult, I can now appreciate how such books can make history more accessible to younger audience.

    Thanks for sharing,
