The Trees Have Hearts – Book Review
Have you ever felt alone – always on the outside, looking in? Have you ever wanted to make new friends but felt unable to reach out? Have you ever wanted to be included in the activities of others but somehow were always overlooked?
Imagine how you would feel if you were a beautiful little girl – alone in a new country – unable to speak the native language. How sad would you feel if no one would talk to you – play with you – try to be your friend?
What would you do?
That’s the story behind The Trees Have Hearts by Ms. D – winner of the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award.
In The Trees Have Hearts, our young heroine turns to nature and uses her imagination to make new friends and learn to rise above her challenges. In the process, she discovers strengths and inner resources she never knew she had – and learns the true meaning of friendship.
The Trees Have Heart is written from personal experience and is one of my favorite Mrs. D. Books to date. The illustrations by Juli Hasegawa are gorgeous and bring the story to life!
If you are looking for a beautifully written, beautifully illustrated inspirational children’s book for someone special – you can’t go wrong with The Trees Have Heart!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the author for review purposes. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I ,ike that it won a 2013 Mom’s Choice Award
Thank you so much for this wonderful review and hosting this fantastic giveaway. I hope that after reading The Trees Have Hearts, the next morning, when children board the school bus, they will sit next to the child sitting alone by the window. I hope when children walk into the lunchroom and notice another child eating lunch alone, they will invite him or her into their group. I hope children will learn how to have more tolerance of children who are different from them and give them a chance to be their friend. I hope they will open their hearts to every child standing alone on the side of the street and share their toy with them. It is so little to learn, but so much to offer. Good luck everyone!! Best wishes. Mrs.D.

No I have not seen or read any of Mrs. D’s books, but this book THe Trees have Heart, sounds like a wonderful way that another child can learn how this new girl to our country who cannot speak our language, and how her and her imaginary friends help her adapt and overcome her fears, This sounds like a helpful read or seeing our world through the eyes of others who are new to our country.

I am new to this author, but I love that the book is about connecting with nature.
I had never heard of this book before, but it combines two of my favorite things – heroines and nature! I look forward to reading it. 🙂
Thank you!
I’d never heard of this author but the book appeals to me because I follow an earth based religion.
I’m not familiar yet. I like that her stories have lessons.
This book is intriguing to me because I do speak Russian ( military trained) and I know that Ukraine is a different language but similar in some ways. I think it is a good book for children to read to understand another person’s point of view and how difficult it is to become part of the group. There is another girl that lives on this street that only speaks spanish, she sometimes plays with my daughter. This book would really help my daughter understand her dilemna.
This book is new to me. This book looks like a perfect book for me niece! I live in the US. darjlj75 (at) gmail (dot) com

Hi Rach,
So glad you had a chance to explore my blog a little and discover that I’m more than just a party girl (smile).
In addition to the TONS of book reviews and giveaways, you’ll also find arts and crafts – recipes – pet posts – and lots of other surprises!
I have a worldwide audience and I encourage all of my sponsors, when possible, to take that into consideration when hosting a giveaway.
Ultimately, however, since they are responsible for the shipping of prizes, they are the ones who make that determination.
I would say that most of my giveaways ARE open to Canadians though but you DO have to read the requirements for each one.
Upcoming giveaways that WILL be open worldwide (unless something changes after this date) are my Chicken Soup For The Soul Giveaways – future giveaways from current Children’s Book Week sponsors Mrs. D and Julie Chapus – and an upcoming jewelry giveaway from Alli Flair.
Future Zonderkidz giveaways are US only.
I hope this helps. To make sure you don’t miss out on anything, be sure to subscribe vie e-mail! 🙂
