Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Cat Did What? – Book Review

As a Chicken Soup For The Soul blogger, I have the privilege of being among the first to hear about new Chicken Soup For The Soul book releases and reviewing the books of my choice.

I find the 2014 line-up especially inspirational – but as a pet lover, there is one title that particularly makes me jump for joy!

If you are a regular reader of my blog, it should come as no surprise that the one Chicken Soup For The Soul book that I have personally been waiting to read all year is Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Cat Did What? – 101 Stories Of Magical Moments, Miracles, and Mischief!

As a life long lover of cats – including the extremely personable Maine Coons that grace my blog – I am forever sharing kitty antics that inspire the comment, The Cat Did What?

I’m sure that if you’ve ever lived with a cat – or two – or more – you’ve found yourself saying that very same thing!

Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Cat Did What? contains 101 larger-than-life stories of amazing felines, told by the people who love them most.

The Forward to the book is written by country singer Miranda Lambert, an animal advocate whose engaging story of her cat Prancer provides a wonderful introduction to this book!

This is a book that cat lovers will treasure. You’ll laugh – you’ll cry – you’ll gain a new appreciation for your favorite feline as you read about these memorable kitties and these intriguing topics:

  • Who? Me?
  • Learning To Love The Cat
  • Who Rescued Who?
  • That Little Rascal
  • Four-Legged Therapists
  • What I Learned From The Cat
  • Who’s In Charge Here!
  • Meant To Be
  • There’s No Place Like Home
  • Bad Cat!

Now, reading 101 adventures of fascinating felines is reason enough for any cat lover to add this book to their must read list, but if you’re gift-shopping for a friend, here are a few more reasons to pick up this book:

  • The stories in Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Cat Did What? promote the welfare of cats by placing a special emphasis on the benefits and joys of adopting abandoned and rescue cats.
  • The folks at Chicken Soup For The Soul are saving cats by donating ALL of their royalties from this book to the American Humane Association (an organization that Miranda Lambert supports!)

So, pick up a copy of this book for yourself and all of your feline-loving friends – and, if you’re in the US/Canada, be sure to enter our Giveaway!

Are you a dog lover? Don’t fret – the folks at Chicken Soup For The Soul have got you covered! Be sure to check out my review for Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Dog Did What? and enter that Giveaway as well!

  1. I would love this book. I have had several cats in my life. And they have been sweet companions. I came home from a car accident years ago and I was still in shock. My cat Suki laid across me and kept me warm. When I went to sleep that cat would come and purr by my ear til I settled down. Every night. And I swear she came back to me to comfort me one evening after she was gone. I swear! I didn’t dream it!
I now have pretty Quinn. She comes and lays by my ear at night until I settle down. Only these two of the four cats I have owned through the years have done this.
    I am privileged, no?

  2. Sorry, my email is ladycristant at aol dot com.

  3. Linda Bradshaw says:

My kitten was being chased by our bigger cat. She got attacked (playfully) a few times and then she ran inside of a jug so the cat could not get her. She then started sticking her paw out and teasing the big cat. I don’t know how she knew to crawl in that jug.

  4. Marjorie Roy says:

I had a cat in my younger years and I cannot really think of anything amazing she did.
Just a little ball of fur and pushing her in my buggy.

  5. mousecat12 says:

My cat alerted us to a flood in the basement! Early enough to be able to save stuff!

  6. Shelley P says:

When we first moved into our new house we noticed a cat coming to our bird feeder each day. She wasn’t trying to catch birds but was eating the bird seeds/grains that had fallen to the ground. Feeling so bad for this cat and how hungry it was we then started buying cat food and leaving it out for the cat. Soon she began to trust us and let us touch her and even pick her up 🙂 Now we have the best house cat ever!! She is very well taken care of and loved! That is how our cat adopted us 🙂

  7. Kelly says:

I saw the one for the dogs at B & N this past weekend. So cute! And the proceeds going to a great cause is just one more reason to love the folks at Chicken Soup. Blessings!

  8. Kara Griggs says:

My cat jumped on a box of Little Cesar’s pizza that we just brought home to eat. It landed on the floor. Oh we were so mad!

Oh my goodness, Staci, a snake?
Thankfully Magellan is an indoor cat or who knows what gifts he would bring me!

My cats love to pretend that they are moles – they make mole tunnels out of the rugs and the bedspreads!

    Sounds like a great book.

My son took our cat to pet day at school. I was just surprised that she sat on my sons lap for the whole car ride and was a good girl. I thought she would go crazy in the car but that didnt happen.

One of my cats loves to play fetch with straws

  19. Carole says:

I adore cats and must read this book soon!

My cat, Ebony (Ebbie) likes touch more than any cat I’ve ever had. He knows when it’s time to go to bed and lays down beside the bathroom door while I’m getting ready, then does the cutest sideways leap into the air as I walk out. When I lay down, he curls up beside my arm with his paws wrapped around it and we go to sleep that way.
