Chicken Soup For The Soul - The Power Of Forgiveness

Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Power Of Forgiveness – Review

What is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?

Personally, I can’t think of anything more difficult than forgiving those who have wounded me deeply or hurt the ones I love.

Let’s face it: forgiving people who harm us is not a normal thing to do. Our natural instinct is to protect ourselves – to get even – to do on to others as they have done on to us.

But that isn’t what God desires for our lives. For our spiritual well-being and our emotional health, God wants us to learn how to forgive and let go. Forgiving allows us to free ourselves of the anger and bitterness that will consume us if we cannot move forward with our lives.

If you’re struggling with forgiveness in any area of your life, learning how others have worked through similar situations and emotions can be a tremendous help.

That’s why Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Power Of Forgiveness – 101 Stories About How To Let Go & Change Your Life could be one of the most inspirational books that you read this year.

Chicken Soup For The Soul – The Power Of Forgiveness is filled with stories of people like you and I who have experienced the freedom that comes with learning to forgive. Like us, they’ve struggled with issues requiring forgiveness in every type of situation imaginable – but through perseverance, they’ve learned how to forgive, let go and move forward.

The Power Of Forgiveness is divided into these categories:

  • Lessons On Forgiving Fathers
  • Forgiveness Between Mothers And Children
  • Learning To Live With Family Through Marriage
  • Patching Up Rifts With Siblings
  • When Bad Things Happen In Love And Marriage
  • Forgiving Friends And Colleagues
  • Lessons From The People You Meet
  • When A Crime Has Been Committed
  • The Importance Of Self-Forgiveness
  • A Poem That Says It All
  • Bonus Stories About The Power Of Forgiveness

If you desire to experience the freedom that forgiveness brings, I encourage you to pick up The Power Of Forgiveness today.

You’ll find that the stories in this book may change your life!

The hardest part of forgiveness is being humble and letting go..oh boy am I in the middle of this now, I wish I had 10 of these to hand out to people as they have caused us nothing but hurt and made our life so hard..I have such a strong faith letting Go and letting God is so hard when people of God are interfering in your life….

I hear you Alesha! Sometimes for me the journey to forgiveness has started with prayer – with the willingness to forgive, even when my emotions are raw and the path forward isn’t clear.

Best of luck to you on your journey and in this giveaway!

I SO relate to this Kathy! It’s hard to not build fortresses around our hearts when we’ve been hurt.
I’ve been spending a lot of time reading Psalms and one of the aspects of trust that I”m working on (in relationship to forgiveness) is that we have to be willing to let go of our need to seek justice and allow God to be our defender and avenger (so to speak).

Thanks for entering this giveaway and best of luck to you!

  3. Carl says:

The hardest thing for me is to admit that I was wrong. It is getting easier the older I get and the more I work on it. Thanks.

That’s such a good point Carl – often there are two sides to a situation and often, if we examine ourselves, we have contributed in some way to the situation.

Saying I’m sorry can often be as difficult as saying I forgive you!

Thanks for entering – thanks for sharing – best of luck to you!

  4. Robin says:

Like you, I believe that God wants us to have great lives and gives us the power to forgive. For me, it is the hardest to forgive when the other person isn’t sorry (or doesn’t even acknowledge) for the hurt they’ve caused. However, conflicts are like two people holding opposite ends of a burning rope. When the other person lets go, you are the only one left to burn. Sometimes you have to muster up the courage to let go too.

Robin, that burning rope story is SUCH a wonderful analogy – I can’t think of a better image than that to express why it’s SO important to do the very hard work of learning to forgive!

Yes, it makes it so much harder when the other person does not care how much pain they’ve caused you – I find that forgiveness in those situations is often a matter of putting down the rope, only to find that I’ve slept walk – ended up with the rope back in my hand – burnt myself – and have to go through the process of putting it down again (until I go longer and longer without picking the rope back up!)

  5. Marjorie Roy says:

Forgive and forget, an old saying that just does not work for me. I try, but I have not found a way yet.

      says:

If it were not for a whole lot of prayer, one could not work through the deepest of pain, Marjorie.
There are wounds that go so deep, IT can take years to overcome.

I hope you have a chance to read this book – perhaps one or more of the stories will hold a key for you.

Thanks for entering the giveaway – best of luck to you!

I love this emphasis on family and the importance of forgiving. When we forgive and treat each other with kindness and love, we will forge stronger family bonds. Thanks for sharing and the opportunity to win this great book.

In general, I’m not a big fan of books that are collections of lots of short stories, but I can see how this book could be really helpful, seeing forgiveness unfold in the lives of others. Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday!

  8. Nicole says:

That looks like an amazing book! I’ve always believed strongly in the power of forgiveness.

  9. Shirley Wood says:

The hardest aspect of forgiveness for me is being friendly to that person again in the future. I tend to not want to ever come in contact with those folks again. This is more true of family members who have been hurtful than of others. It’s just so much more difficult when it is a family member.

      says:

Boy does that resonate with me Shirley!
It takes a lot of wisdom and discernment to know when forgiveness entails giving a person another chance and when it’s okay to work out our forgiveness with God and keep a toxic person – family member or not – out of our lives.
