Pretty Card, Naughty Cat!

WOYWW 311: What’s On My Work Desk This Week?

Today’s post is dedicated to all of you who craft with cats.

Normally, I love to create with Magellan by my side, but today, he proved to be more a hindrance than a help!

One of the items that I have sitting on my desk is the large jar filled with crafting flowers that you can see in the photographs of today’s card.

Today, Magellan was present when I opened the jar to pick out a few blooms for my card and he was totally enthralled by what he found inside.

He thought that each flower represented a multi-colored gourmet cat treat that he could not wait to scoop out and sample!

In the blink of an eye – Magellan proceeded to hunt paw-picked flowers from my beautiful mixed media floral garden and turn the blossoms into slimy, saliva-laced choking hazards – not once… not twice… but three times in rapid succession!

Oh, what a Naughty Boy my Magellan was!

He tested my dexterity and reflexes as I grabbed him to pull each and every floral delicacy out of his mouth!

It seemed like every time I turned my back for a second to do something – he managed to find another blossom to munch on!

And then – when I finally got the flower situation under control – I caught him merrily rolling my ric rac ribbon across my desk as a prelude to his next snack!

Finally – for his safety and my peace of mind – I gave Magellan a “time out” and escorted him to the hallway. This did not please him at all.

How many of you recognize this look – the intense glare of a displeased cat who is simultaneously plotting his revenge while giving you the stink eye?

Anyway – without further ado – I present you with today’s card – created from my now famous bag of scraps with a little distressing and a few embellishments added for good measure!

The beautiful sentiment reads:

May the long time sun shine upon you,
All love surround you,
And the pure light within you guide your way home.

Now it’s your turn to share your creations with us! What have you created or acquired this week? Whether you’re showing off your desk, your latest acquisitions, or your latest creation – be sure to share it with our creative community at one of our weekly parties as well!

Cats can be stinkers sometimes! I’m glad to hear that Magellan didn’t end up hurting himself with any of those lovely “snacks.” My kitties like to attack my creative projects too. I have seen that stink-eye look before as well.

Fortunately, I don’t get it often, but boy, I got a long one that day!

  10. Laughing so hard after reading about Magellan and the flowers. His antics remind me so much of Allistair! And the stink eye…know THAT revengeful look for sure. BTW, the card truly is pretty! Diane #27

MOL! I totally relate to Magellan – those flowers look like so much fun! Clearly they are toys. The only things my human crafts tend to be on the computer, so she is nowhere near as much fun.

My Mom tries SO hard to keep me out of trouble – but I really DO give her a run for the money!
Hmmm… – is THAT why she is always SO exhausted?
Maybe I’ll try to be good for a day.
      MAYBE.
Thanks for the heads up on the giveaway – I’m sure that once Mom hears the news she will be SO THERE! 🙂

  34. Rorybore says:

oh yes, I recognize that stink eye look. I normally get it when our Cashew tries to munch my house plants! I don’t know why they look so tasty.
beautiful card, and I love the sentiment.

    • Create With Joy

      says:

It has been SO long since I’ve had fresh plants and flowers in my home due to those naughty, “we put everything in our mouths that you bring into OUR home cats”… – too hard to keep up with what’s a clear and present danger and what’s not – best to just assume that if it comes in the door, there is a high likelihood that it will be sampled and proceed form there…

But oh, I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who gets the stink eye every now and then!

  35. Danielle Vincent says:

LOL – I could just see this as you described it! Those flowers do look very yummy on this card no wonder Magellan wanted to taste them. Maybe Magellan was a crafter in a previous life and just couldn’t help himself – hehehe. Sounds like the time out was your best solution or you may not have finished this beautiful card! Thanks for joining us at Kraftin’ Kimmie this week!

  36. We really love the song Ong Namo, Granny was just singing it this morning. You made such a beautiful card of the words. Purrfectly done! So is the Selfie of Magellan 🙂 Pawkisses 🙂 <3

  37. Elizabeth H says:

What a gorgeous card and beautiful verse.

  40. Thanks for entering your creation into our hcallenge at Crafty Time. I love the sentiment you have used – I am a great one for using quotes and sentiments on my cards! Good luck. Christine DT

  41. Mum has the same trouble with her sewing machine and fabric scraps!!

  42. I know exactly what you mean! I had two cats (one now) and whenever I would bring laminated stuff home to cut out for my class, my cats would drive me crazy swatting it as I cut. I always had to lock them in the bedroom until I was done. They certainly are entertaining though, aren’t they?

I’m so glad you linked up with #ShareTheWealthSunday!

That pesky Magellan! Of course, he would be like, “I’m just being a cat, Mom.” 🙂

No crafting right now on my end, but Arya has her ways. For instance, I’m reading and have the bookmark lying on my chest and she gets up on my lap with the pretense that she has just come to roost…and then proceeds to pounce on the bookmark, tassel in mouth. She’s so sneaky!

  46. Tracy says:

What a cute card!! I hope your cat learned from his time out. So glad you could join in my Monday Mood Board!
