Wordless Wednesday – New Year Countdown

Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!

Quote Of The Week

The object of a New Year is not that
We should have a New Year.
It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose;
New feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes.
Unless a particular man made New Year resolutions,
He would make no resolutions.
Unless a man starts afresh about things,
He will certainly do nothing effective.

Gilbert K. Chesterson

New Year’s Countdown

How do you spend the days that lead to the start of a New Year? Do you spend them making merriment and cheer? Do you spend them in labor and toil? Do you spend them in quiet contemplation?

This year, I decided to follow the lead of my free-spirit cat, Magellan. I’ve made cat-napping and play time a priority. I’ve socialized and philosophized. I’ve focused on chilling out rather than stressing out.

And, as 2016 approaches, I’m in a more peaceful place than I can recount on all my cat’s paws!

We wish you all a peaceful and joyful year as well – thanks so much for being a part of our Wordless Wednesday Community!

Thanks Rhonda – I”m truly savoring the holidays!
I’m sure everyone will interpret that poem/quote a different way, but for me, it means it’s not so much about the year being new –
it’s about us going into the year anew, with a different outlook, a fresh perspective – ready to embrace a new start.
Happy New Year to you Rhonda!

I love G.K. Chesterton! I spend my New Year’s in quiet contemplation. In fact, I begin the contemplation days before the event. I love this time of year. For most of my family, it’s just a day. But for me, it’s a good place to look back and reflect over the year and to look ahead. It’s probably my favorite time of year. Love the quote! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! We are snowed in at the moment and I live in Texas?!

Glad you like the quote Gina – looks like we both get contemplative this time of year!
My husband was watching a game in TX and we were commenting on the unusual snow hitting your region!
Pop by my Instagram for a bit of warmth and sunshine! 🙂

      • Gina says:

I did check your IG! Beautiful green trees! We’ve actually had unusually warm temps until this blizzard hit. Under all the snow, I still have green grass and a green rose bush. Crazy.

  7. Thanks for hosting. Happy New Year!

  8. Great poem and Happy New Year.

  9. Agnes says:

Ahh, the New Year….I have seen many and yet there are many to come, I hope. At my age after raising 5 children I see a quiet New Year…..hubby and me. The kids are grown and doing their own thing…many friends have passed on so we dont entertain that night…but that is ok…quiet is good….and a healthy 2016 to all.

We like Magellan’s approach to the new year. I always do a combination of being thankful and reflective about what took place over the past year, and hopeful about what the next year has in store. Thank you for hosting, and happy new year!
