Crazy New Contraption

A Cat’s Perspective Of The OXO Salad Spinner

Featuring Magellan

Today, I discovered a crazy new contraption
On the kitchen table.
I’m not sure what it is or what it does
But I don’t think I like or trust it at all!

At first I was very excited.
I thought Mom had bought me a new toy!
After all, she did make a huge fuss over it.
I thought we were going to have tons of fun!

But then – she started to behave very strangely!
First, she began pouring wet salad leaves into my new toy!
Then, she began to repeatedly press the big black button on top.
The new toy began to spin and twirl!
I’d never seen anything like it before!
I thought the whole thing was going to explode!

When my toy finally stopped spinning,
It was all wet inside!
Water-logged!
Ruined!
I never even had a chance to curl up inside the pretty bowl!

So what’s a cat supposed to make
Of this confounded contraption?
Am I supposed to press the big black button
With my precious kitty paws?

If I turn my back on this thing,
Will it somehow brainwash Mom into
Pouring my food into its beastly belly as well?

Crazy contraption –
I’ve got my eye on you!

Magellan, that toy looks pretty crazy, for sure! Our Angel Moosey would have loved it, since lettuce was his favorite treat. 🙂

Thank you for hosting, Ramona. Have a great day!

  6. Mary Denman says:

Your photography is great Ramona. My favorite shot is when you’re level with Magellan and the bowl and you can see the drops of water inside!

Our purchase of a dog confounded our cats! For a while anyway!

    Have a great day!

Thank you so much Mary – glad I included that shot!
Funny about the dog – yes, the addition of a dog to a formerly feline family has confounded many a cat (and vice versa!)
      Happy healing to you!

Wonderful shots, animals are just lovely!

  9. Magellan is so funny – “never had a chance to sit in the bowl.” Love it. He does not look happy.

We 4 cats here love boxes and mom threw one out yesterday. Sad.

Oh, box purging day is never any fun for a cat!
Fortunately, Magellan has plenty of toys that bring him great joy –
regrettably, that “confounded” salad spinner was not one of them! 🙂

  10. My catness!! That is quite the interesting cat toy!!

As you know, cats see the entire world as their playground –
although, as they soon discover, certain things are more to their liking than others!

      Have an amazing week!

  11. I love cats! They are fascinating creatures. Have a blessed Easter!

  12. Our cat in the Philippines are always nosy too! But they are mostly not going near anything thats too noisy =P

  13. Kitties Blue says:

We know our humans have one of the spinning thingies, but we’ve never shown any interest. In fact we pretty much ignore their stuff unless we can push it on the floor and break it. MOL! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    Happy easter!

  15. Connie says:

When I attempted to use a salad spinner my cats kept batting at the tub as it spun around..

  16. Dita says:

I don’t have pet but this post makes me wanna have one! Well, I do have fish but maybe they are not as expressive as cats…

  17. Shadow says:

Now Magellan, as a cat I must admit if the contraption had fresh grass in it us cats may be more understanding. Shadow

Our household contraptions do make for some great photo’s. You did a wonderful job capturing Magellan’s curiosity. A curious cat makes for an entertaining cat for sure.

No toy for you today, maybe next time…

What a cute post! I can really believe a cat would be thinking like this too. They get such curious looks on their faces.

I hope you assured Magellan that you wouldn’t be putting his food in there. 😉

HAHAHAHAHA — I can’t think of a kitchen gadget that caught our cats’ attention.

  29. I have a small kitchen and therefore must be judicious in my choices of kitchen gadgets. My salad spinner is essential.
