  1. I was always a cat person when I was younger. As an adult I saved 2 dogs and 1 cat who I ended up adoring. So now I am a cat and dog person! 🙂

  2. Anne says:

When I was growing up we had cats, one at a time. Sweet pea, Smokey, Toby and then there was Eli the naughtiest one of all who rejected his food and just wanted your food. He was a real character who snuggled up and loved us. He never ventured far and did not like visitors.

  3. Carl says:

We don’t have a cat but my niece is the head of the cat rescue group in her town. Her dedication to the local strays and ferals is very inspiring to me. She’s a great kid.

I always enjoy your cat posts and the affinity we share for these precious felines. In spite of the fact that we live in a subdivision, my indoor/outdoor kitty was killed by a coyote last October. We kept him in every night, but he loved outdoors and went out around 7:30 each morning. When he hadn’t come back in to eat by mid-morning, I knew what had happened.

My sweet husband suggested getting another cat within days, and I asked for two so they could be inside kitties and keep each other company. The most wonderful lady at our local rescue center helped and we soon had two precious solid black kitties, one 7 mo, the other almost 2. We can’t protect them from everything, but their being inside gives me peace of mind.

Thanks for the giveaway. I would treasure every story.

I am SO sorry you lost your precious cat Carole – how heartbreaking – but so happy that your story has a happy ending!
You’ll have to share the pictures of your two sweeties at Wordless Wednesday! 🙂

I grow up with dogs and always thought I was a dog person, until I got my 1st cat 15 years ago and then I realized that I like dogs, but I’m really a cat person. That first cat passed 4 years ago, but by then I already had my second one and she’s still with me and about to celebrate her 7th birthday this coming Monday.

As I’ve talked about many times in the past, Alice thinks she should be allowed to go outside. We have to be ever watchful because she never gives up trying to get outside. Several years ago, we lived in an apartment and one night when the ex and my sons came back from somewhere, Alice managed to sneak out. We didn’t notice until the next morning that she was gone. When I realized she was indeed gone, I totally panicked! I ran outside and started calling her (I have a big mouth so I knew she would hear me if she was still close by. lol). Low and behold, I hear this wailing meow. She had got lost and was across the parking lot in the wooded area. I got her. She was really scared…and I thought she had learned her lesson. Sadly, she didn’t. The vigilance continues. 😉

I am so glad you were able to get Alice back safely!
Thankfully I have never had any issues with Tsunami but Magellan I have to really watch.
One day he decided to make a bolt for the front door –
I literally threw myself on the floor to grab him as he was headed out!
      My poor bruised knee…
I don’t know what got into him that day –
But I also am a very vigilant mom!

Oh dear! That is not good…to fall while trying to get the cat inside.

Five days before I was to have Reece (in 2003), my kitty Lily got outside in the middle of the night when my husband (ex) left to go hunting. I went outside that morning calling her and looking for her, and proceeded to trip and fall forward. Yep, I was full term pregnant. I never found her. :'( Really never forgave my ex for it either. She was one of my most sweet kitties. Arya reminds me of her in personality. 🙂

        No wonder he’s your ex!

  7. renee says:

My daughter’s cat, Cheeto, gets the cat-crazies at around midnight some nights. He likes to run and jump across my bed at full-speed and run into the closet and back again several times in a row, I guess until his energy runs out! One night he jumped from one corner of my king sized bed to the other, and they way he jumped made him look like he was riding an invisible bicycle! I laughed so hard until I cried. I still laugh just thinking about it today. He is usually a very quiet, reserved kind of cat so his invisible bike ride and his late-night outbursts are really surprising!

  8. Sarah W says:

My husband and I lost our precious calico cat, Reesey, in February. She was our first pet to adopt together and we had her for 10 wonderful years. We were heartbroken over our loss and will always remember her. We recently adopted an adorable tabby cat that our daughters named Sprinkles. She’s such a love and we are so thankful for her!

I use to have cats, and they were good cats until we one we got peed in my new suitcase and I couldn’t get the smell out. grrrrr It was a stray my daughter brought home. I never did that again to say the least. I guess there’s some cat people and there’s dog people. Each to their preference.

I love the rescue focus of this book. I think people would really benefit from learning not only how cool cats are, but how they can choose their own cool cat at a shelter! My last one came from the shelter. Popoki was terrified and sick there, so she didn’t “show” well. But how well she shines here. I couldn’t do without my goofy girl!

  12. Christy Spurlock says:

My cat, Francesca, was the head of this household. She loved eating ice cream out of our “fine china” and she would sneak a sip of my sweet tea when I wasn’t looking. As she would sleep on the couch, while I was l cleaning, I would tend to sing while working. Francesca couldn’t stand me sing and would let everyone in range know how much she hated it. The faces and growls she would make. My husband would ask her if it was okay for me to sing a song and we knew what the look meant….NO. She passed away May, 2012 and she is missed so very much. She can NEVER be replaced.

  13. Beverly says:

I know how much pets can bring to our lives. I am allergic to cats, so I have never been able to be close enough to one to have a relationship. I do admire them from afar, and I have a weakness for Calico cats. I just love their coloring.

    Happy Pink Saturday.

  14. Maggie@PAWS says:

I’d like to read this book. It sounds like a good selection of cat stories.
    Thanks of having the give-away.

  15. I love cats, and how they each have their own personalities! Thanks for sharing with #SocialButterflySunday! Hope to see you link up again this week 🙂
