Inspiring Books For The Entire Family

It’s hard to believe that summer is upon us (where has the year gone!) but now that June has arrived, the time is ripe for sharing our love of reading with our family as well as finding ways to have fun in the process!

Looking for recommendations? Here are a few books I think you and your family will enjoy!

Little Love Letters From God Bible Stories – Book Review

Little Love Letters From God

Do you have a young reader (pre-school, early elementary) who would delight in receiving a personal letter from God? Would you love to see your child’s eyes light up as they learn the stories of the Bible and learn just how much God loves them as an individual?

Little Love Letters From God Bible Stories by Glenys Nellist is a Lift-The-Flap board book that features the charming illustrations of Sophie Allsopp. The book features eight rhyming stories that introduce young children to eight of the most popular stories in the Bible – stories like Creation, Noah’s Ark and the Birth of Jesus. Accompanying each two-page story is a lift-up flap with a letter that you can personalize with your child’s name so that he or she will find their very own letter from God awaiting as they read each story in the book!

This is a book you and your child will cherish – and best of all, it’s just part of a wonderful series of “love letter” books from Zonderkidz!

101 Ways To Have Fun – Book Review

101 Ways To Have Fun

101 Ways To Have Fun – Things You Can Do With Friends Anytime is a colorfully illustrated book filled with fun ideas that will banish boredom from your daughter’s vocabulary! Whether your daughter is into crafting or entertaining – whether she wants to have a blast with her BFF or schedule some mini-makeovers – this book will help ensure that your daughter has the best vacation of her life!

The Dog That Whispered by Jim Kraus – Book Review

The Dog That Whispered

There is nothing more delightful than losing onself in a good book on a relaxing summer day – and The Dog That Whispered by Jim Kraus is the perfect poolside companion for you!

The Dog That Whispered tells the story of Thurman – a rescued black lab mix – and the impact this amazing dog has on the lives of the people he meets.

When William Steele – a single professor and Vietnam vet who enjoys living alone – suddenly finds himself the less-than-enthused owner of a dog his mother adopted but is unable to keep, he has no idea just how much Thurman is about to change his life.

His Mom says Thurman is special – but he knows that dogs can’t talk. Why, then, does William suddenly find himself listening for messages in Thurman’s growls – and pursuing interests he never would have considered before?

Filled with both heart and humor, The Dog That Whispered is a clean read encompassing themes of family, friendship, faith, vets and pets that readers of all ages will enjoy!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the Hatchette Book Group for review purposes. The opinions I’ve shared are entirely my own.

The Dog that Whispered sounds like a wonderful read! I don’t have any new books, but I’m glad I had a bit of a break with the birthdays and all, so I linked up one from last month. I’ll be sharing new books on my blog again soon. Wishing you a blessed weekend!

One book I simply MUST READ this month…?
I must read THE RELUCTANT DUCHESS by Roseanna M White. I keep picking it up and putting it down when the MC does something crazy that makes me cringe, as reader, knowing the negative consequences. So I must read it to get past the outcome to the ending and some kind of relief!

Have a great weekend Ramona – Hoping you get caught up quickly so you can have a break 🙂

      Have a great weekend too!

  3. The book I just had to read this month I just finished ! — FRIENDSHIP: A True Story of Adventure, Goodwill, and Endurance by Francis Mandewah (memoir about a poor boy from Africa who finds a friend who changes his life!)

Next book I just have to read, I just started — I Don’t Wait Anymore by Grace Thornton (a Christian memoir)

    • Hi Janet from FL.,

Hope this finds you in good spirits! I cannot but say Thanks for reviewing of my book, and just so you know I am working with Shawn Justice – an independent Christian film writer, producer, and director to adapt my book – FRIENDSHIP…. to screenplay. The project just begun. Who knows! Please keep me in your prayers. Hope all is well with you and your family. –Francis Mandewah

This is the second recommendation I’ve read of The Dog That Whispered. I might have to check that out. I like the sound of the Bible story book with the letters too. One book I want to read this month is Rising Strong by Brene Brown. I got it at Christmas and haven’t managed to get round to reading it yet.
