Unashamed – Drop The Baggage, Pick Up Your Freedom, Fulfill Your Destiny – Book Review
One of the most important books to come my path this year is Unashamed – Drop The Baggage, Pick Up Your Freedom, Fulfill Your Destiny by Christine Caine. This book is so powerful – so resonant – so life-changing, that I simply did not want another moment to pass without sharing this incredible resource with you!
Unashamed is a book about toxic shame – enslaving shame – the type of shame that keeps us hidden in the shadows and distorts our image of who we are and who God created us to be. Shame tells us we aren’t good enough, we aren’t deserving enough, we don’t belong, we shouldn’t really exist.
Shame is a tool that the enemy uses to attack all of us, from the most broken, abused and downtrodden to the most successful, confident and high-achieving among us. Shame knows no bounds. Shame hides in plain sight all around us and holds us back in ways we often do not realize – but in Unashamed, Christine empowers us with the message that God loves us unconditionally and sent His Son to set us free.
Christine writes:
I know. I’ve been there. I was schooled in shame. It has been my constant companion from my very earliest memories. I see shame everywhere I look in the world, including in the church. It creeps from heart to heart, growing in shadowy places, feeding on itself so that those struggling with it are too shamed to seek help from shame itself.
We have all been affected. But we can all be free.
In Unashamed, Christine reveals the often-hidden consequences of shame and shares the path to freedom.
What I love about Unashamed is how Christine masterfully weaves the stories of her life together in such a way that it resonates with us, and she ends up taking us on a journey through our lives as well. Through the power of story, I found myself connecting with Christine and hooked on the book from the very start.
Healing from shame is challenging but through her compassion, candor and love, Christine encourages and inspires us to see our journeys through.
Unashamed is already creating powerful change in the lives of countless women. I highly recommend this book to you!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

About Christine Caine
Christine is a lover of Jesus, wife to Nick, and mum to Catie and Sophia. She travels the globe preaching, teaching, and advocating for justice. Powered by hot, extra-dry, skinny, cappuccinos, Christine is a lover of words who speaks too fast, talks too much, and writes it all down. She and her husband Nick founded A21, an anti-human trafficking organization that fights slavery around the globe. Christine has a heart for freeing captives, both physically and spiritually, but ultimately it comes back to her primary focus: building the Church.
