Let Food Be Your Medicine

Let Food Be Your Medicine – Book Review

If you are reading this article, chances are high that either you or someone you love is battling with an ongoing health issue such as heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, dementia, hypertension, cancer, or another chronic health condition.

Did you know that chronic inflammation is at the root of almost every chronic disease, and inflammation is the result of food sensitivities?

In the updated release of his ground-breaking book, Let Food Be Your Medicine, Don Colbert, MD describes the dietary changes we need to adopt to prevent or reverse specific diseases in our lives. He also provides us with a 21-day meal plan based on a modified Mediterranean diet to make the process easier to implement!

Dr. Colbert speaks from personal experience.

During the early years of his medical practice, events in Dr. Colbert’s personal life led him to develop “the heartbreak of psoriasis”. Determined to find a cure, he spent ten years and $750,000 attending medical conferences and pursuing every traditional and non-traditional medical lead he could find before he found a way to rid himself of this terrible disease.

In Let Food Be Your Medicine, Dr. Colbert shares the results of his research. He addresses nutritional factors including how food has changed over the years due to pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMO’s). He clearly explains why we need to adopt an anti-inflammatory diet for optimal health.

Dr. Colbert also notes that physical and emotional trauma play an important role in the development of illness and shows how spiritual healing through prayer and forgiveness positively impact our physical health.

Let Food Be Your Medicine is a life-changing book that I highly recommend to you.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

  1. This sounds really helpful! A friend of mine whose parents are from India recommended turmeric tea for anti-inflammation so I’m trying that today. A strong flavor to get used to, but I think I’m going to like it!

  4. I read this book the other day when I saw it here on your blog. It was very interesting and I considered doing what he suggested for prevention, but I just don’t think our house could give up bread…

  5. Brandi Raae says:

I remember reading some of his books years ago. I know it’s an excuse, but it is a lot harder eating super healthy with teens in the house!!
