Secrets From The Eating Lab – Book Review

Over the years, have you struggled to lose weight and to keep it off in spite of trying diet after diet? Have you come to the conclusion that diets just don’t work, in spite of what most diet experts proclaim? If so, you’ll be interested to learn that Traci Mann, Ph.D. – a psychologist who is also one of the nation’s leading researchers in self-control, dieting, and the psychology of weight loss – is on your side.

After spending more than twenty years studying how people eat in the real world and what really causes people to lose, gain and keep weight off, Dr. Mann has written Secrets From The Eating Lab: The Science Of Weight Loss, The Myth Of Willpower, And Why You Should Never Diet Again, an essential book for anyone who is concerned about healthy living!

Secrets From The Eating Lab is a provocative book that explores cutting edge theories about obesity and our relationship with food. Dr. Mann challenges our beliefs about dieting and debunks many commonly held beliefs about the diet industry.

For instance, Dr. Mann believes that instead of wasting our time and money trying to fight against our natural tendencies with “willpower”, we should focus our energy on 12 simple yet effective strategies that enable us to work with human nature instead of fighting against it.

This book is more information-oriented than application-oriented – meaning that there is a lot of research to read and digest. You won’t find handy checklists, slick charts, or trendy menus and recipes in this book.

However, if you’ve found that trying to lose weight through traditional dieting methods are not working for you, then Secrets From The Eating Lab could hold the keys you need to unlock the doors to better health.

It’s certainly worth the read.

I loved this book! I read it a couple of years ago and vowed never to buy another diet book. It’s saved me hundreds of dollars and I’ve actually lost 50lbs so far.

That’s an interesting idea: to work with our human nature when it comes to food and nutrition, rather than trying to keep to certain rules or restrictions. Seems like that would be a good approach for a number of people (I think I would probably include myself in that group!).
