Earlier this year, I received a beautiful houseplant from a friend. Shortly after its arrival, it blossomed profusely, providing an incredible burst of brilliant hues in my home. This plant is looking great. I also like keeping artificial plants in rooms as they add enormous beauty. Nice work by Hedgescapes!
I’d like to try out hedgescapes in my home, especially since you do not have to have a green thumb, but I enjoy plants here and there. My current collection consists of succulents for that very reason.

We went to a demonstration at the local garden on bonsai. The man showed us how to choose the plant, to prune it, the angles where they advise directing branches, how to pot them, water and fertilize them, etc. It was far more intricate and time-consuming a practice than I expected. One thing he said that surprised me is that bonsai are not indoor plants. They should stay out year-round (heavily mulched in the winter). I’ve never seen a bonsai outside, so that was definitely unexpected advice for me!
I don’t know where you live – we’re in North Carolina here, and so our winters may be warmer, although I have seen minus 13 degrees F once since moving here. I suspect I wouldn’t leave much of anything outside in THOSE temps!

I did a little research on the difference between topiary and bonsai for this article – which I ended up not getting into here – since Hedgescapes is more about topiary than bonsai. Their topiaries are amazing and definitely something I’d like to consider incorporating into my home as I make more space (I particularly saw some lovely holiday topiaries I liked) – but the smaller bonsai are great for the space-challenged (and fortunately, since this one’s not live, the temperature isn’t an issue!)
