The Royal Taste Testers Review Health Extension Grain-Free Cat Food
It’s not every day that a major pet food company launches a new line of cat food so Magellan and Tsunami – our Taste Testers Extraordinaire – were thrilled to receive an invitation from Health Extension Pet Care to try their first line of grain free canned diets for cats and to share their thoughts with you!
Health Extension Pet Care is a leading holistic pet food company that’s been formulating healthy diets for cats and dogs for three generations. Their new line of grain free cat food (which is made entirely in America) contains high-quality protein sources like chicken, tuna, and tilapia and whole food ingredients like vegetables and berries, to provide your cats with a stronger immune system, a more efficient digestive system, healthy skin and coat, and strong bones and teeth.
With six great flavors to choose from, Tsunami and Magellan hemmed and hawed over their selections, but when all was said and done, Tsunami couldn’t wait to try the new Health Extension Grain-Free Chicken and Tuna recipe – and Magellan opted for the new Health Extension Grain-Free Chicken and Pumpkin formula!
On the day their food arrived, they could hardly wait for me to break into the box (they seem to have a knack for letting their humans due the hard stuff!) so that they could stick their little kitty noses into the cans for their first whiff!
Tsunami and Magellan have been enjoying their new grain-free Health Extension diet for the past few weeks now (I think it’s safe to say we’re past the sampling stage when they’re stalking me morning and night for both breakfast and dinner!)
Tsunami loves chicken – chicken with tuna, chicken with pumpkin – so he has been happily enjoying his healthy new meals every chance he gets! When he has the opportunity, he also helps himself to his brother’s plate as well!
Magellan’s been devouring his chicken and tuna entrées – he picked them, after all – and he’s even been seen lapping up his brother’s leftovers on the rare occasion that Tsunami leaves a morsel or two behind. But, he’d rather reserve the chicken and pumpkin for Thanksgiving and snack time – although he’ll take a few bites when he’s hungry, I think he’s a bit of a veggie-phobe!
If you’d like to treat your cats to one of Health Extension’s new grain-free recipes (they’re also serving Chicken and Duck, Chicken and Salmon, Tuna and Prawns, and Tilapia and Tuna on their menu!), be sure to visit their location finder or let Chewy.com deliver it to your door!
Disclosure: Magellan and Tsunami received a free samples of Health Extension Pet Care to review. The opinions we’ve shared reflect their personal experience with this product.

Glad it was a hit. My only fish lover is Emmy, the other 12 prefer turkey and chicken.

Welcome Kelly – so glad you found us! Hope you’ll join us again for Friendship Friday! 🙂
We are pretty surprised, but we have never heard of this food brand before. We probably eat more fish than our mom (not our dad), as there are only a few kinds of fish our mom likes. Is this food pate? It looks like it is. That’s all we will eat. Thanks for the review. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
Those two need their own commercial. In my house, their is no fish or any products from the sea as I am highly allergic.
Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful week.
Miss Joy, Mom asks if there is “salmon” or “fish oil” in all the varieties. I am allergic to “salmon”, but Mom finds that many moist foods include it in their list of ingredients. What great food reviewers Tsunami & Magellan are!

Salmon, no. Fish oil, you would have to check the label. I know in their original formulas they included it but I am not sure about the new ones!
What a beautiful cat! I’m not big fan of fish, but my cats and dog love it.
Looks like they really enjoyed the new food! Great review, by the way 🙂

Thank you so much – glad you enjoyed the review! 🙂
Oooh! This food sounds yummy. I love that it is made in the USA. My kitties would love the chicken flavor too. 🙂
Sounds like really healthy & delicious food! My dogs love food that has chicken and pumpkin in it too, Magellan! Enjoy.

Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Look at all that food! Lucky kitty! My cat’s don’t mind grains, but glad they are coming up with more grain free options for the kitties that need it.
Sometimes cats simply don’t want veggies! Although I can see pumpkin being a vital part of many a cat’s diet so good on the company for thinking about those kinds of cats!
looks like you have a winner there with that food,xx Speedy
We, meaning the Royal WE, would love to try these new diets alas they never make it to the UK, or if they do they are impossibly expensive. It is really nice to see you guys tucking in to them so they must be good.
