Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!
Magellan – Summer’s End
Technically, summer does not end for a few more weeks, but let’s face it: most of us mark the changing of the seasons not by the actual solstices and equinoxes, but by the holidays and rituals that mark the passages of our lives.
For some, summer ends when school starts. Others unofficially welcome Fall after Labor Day, or when the leaves begin to change color, or when they experience their first cool, crisp autumn evening.
Even our pets are aware of the passage of time: they notice the changing patterns in the world around them – the migration of the birds – the falling of the leaves – their wild brethren preparing for the upcoming winter.

Thanks Steve you too! 🙂
For me, Fall starts when Labor Day ends. I totally agree with you about people marking the holidays as season ends and beginning. I know summer is here when we celebrate Memorial Day. Thanks for hosting the party!

Yes, Labor Day puts me in an “Autumn State of Mind”! Same with Memorial Day/summer. We must be in sync! 🙂
In Australia it is now officially Spring. However back in the dim dark ages of my primary school days, I was sure that we were taught that season began/ended on the equinoxes and solstices.
To support my theory we have been plunged back into wintery weather since September 1. Even had snow down to 400 metres, which is very unusual.

Seems like the calendar really puts us behind! 🙂 And Spring/Winter? Guess we just need to toss those calendars right out the window!
Happy day to you!

Oh, Megallan, what a lovely picture of you saying Goodbye to Summer. We are so not ready it 🙁 Pawkisses for a sunshiny Week 🙂 <3
Funny enough, my blog post today is about Summer’s end too, kind of. Only maybe not quite the same summer!
Thanks for hosting! Autumn is my favorite time of year!
It’s getting darker earlier and the garden is looking tired out… Good bye Summer.
Thanks for the Link-up.
xxoo
Fall starts for us in earnest when after labor day too. This is the first morning I’ve had to put on a hoodie in months and I’m happy about that.

HAVE A GREAT DAY! BIG HUGS!
Thank you for hosting another #WordlessWednesday. I always enjoy stopping by and here it feels more like Fall than Summer.
Hi Miss Joy! Mom recognizes fall when the leaves start changing colors & falling off the trees & when stores bring out Halloween items. I love to help Mom decorate the house for fall! Mew Mew!
Beautiful photo! We’re always thrilled to bid summer a fond farewell. While summer-like temps generally continue into October for us, a nice little cool front just blew in to give us a sneak peak of what’s to come. We couldn’t be more excited! Happy Wordless Wednesday!
Usually when I go back to in the middle of August and I am in a classroom teaching.
Thanks for hosting and have a great rest of the week.
I count Fall officially here when September 1st hits. School is in session and Labor Day is around the corner. I love Halloween so much I put up all the decorations Labor Day weekend so I can enjoy two months instead of just one! We start getting some great fall colors in our mountains around the middle to end of September and that officially seals it for me, a fall hike in the mountains.
What a lovely photo of Magellan. I always feel that fall starts with September 1st, even though I know full well it isn’t actually until the 21st! I always used to have to go back to school the first day after Labour Day, so it’s just kind of stuck in my head that way! Anyway Happy Fall! Thank you so much for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party.
Magellan looks so relaxed and comfortable!!
With so many changes to the weather it is the dark, the rain and the warmth or lack of that drives us to our beds and warm fireside seats here…. Roll on summer again as I fear autumn winter and spring will be nondescript here in the UK

yep Summer has gone to sleep….mind you for us she went to sleep early,xx Speedy
Magellan is a handsome boy. I think of Labor Day as the end of summer, I much prefer fall.

I love the coming of fall and then the winter season. I know Alice and Arya measure the change to fall and spring by the opening of the windows. We have had a remarkable pre-fall this year with a woodchuck, a bunny and yesterday, a deer right in our backyard. Wonderful!
