Just Open The Door: How One Invitation Can Change A Generation
Have you ever wanted to pick up the phone to invite an old friend, a new acquaintance, or maybe the couple who just moved into your neighborhood over for tea, but ended up squelching the urge because your house looked a little too lived in for your comfort?
Do you feel that you have the gift of hospitality and you’d love to welcome people into your home, if only you could unbury yourself from the chaos that you feel like you’re living in, day in and day out?
If so, then Jen Schmidt’s Just Open The Door: How One Invitation Can Change A Generation was written for you!
For those of us who feel the urge to welcome others into our homes deep down inside but often hear the voices inside of our heads telling us that “something” must happen (“be better, be right, be perfect” before we can do so) – Just Open The Door counters those arguments by providing us with examples of what true biblical hospitality looks like. Her book has everything that those of us who struggle in this area could hope for – encouraging advice and examples to follow – letters with personal responses from Jen – and tips on how to elevate the ordinary moments in our lives with easy-to-do, practical steps to follow!
I had high hopes for Just Open The Door and this book exceeded them all!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

It sounds like a wonderful book!
Thank you for the review! I think we all have this issue at times 🙂

Lovely idea!
Unfortunately, too many times we worry more about our physical home when what the world needs is our spiritual heart.

So true and beautifully put Sharon – thanks for sharing your heart! 🙂
Two great books on hospitality have just come out — this one, and “The Gospel Comes With a House Key.” I haven’t read either one yet (want to/need to/sorta dreading it!) Hospitality is so beautiful, so effective, and so scary for messy introverts. Really thankful for the hospitable people in my life, and looking for some creative ways to put this into practice. Thanks for this nudge to read the book!
