Born To Wander –Book Review
Have you ever felt unsettled in life – like no matter where you are, you never quite fit in or belong?
In her new book Born To Wander: Recovering The Value Of Our Pilgrim Identity, Michelle Van Loom says that each of us has a sense of wanderlust inside of us – a desire for new things and new experiences – that competes with our longings for security, safety, and control. She reassures us that if we are navigating a season of transition or dealing with the pain and fallout of broken relationships, we are not experiencing these things alone.
One of the themes that is repeated throughout Scripture is the portrayal of God’s people as exiles and wanderers. In Born To Wander Michelle Van Loon explores this theme by weaving together personal stories filled with keen insights on how we can embrace our own pilgrim identity and turn our heart towards God. One of the most important lessons she shares in this book is that even as exiles, we have a profound purpose in life if we can just learn to lean into it.
Born To Wander helps us to regain a clear sense of our purpose and identity in the midst of our pilgrimage and to trust God even when we don’t understand what is happening around us. As we read and work through the practical suggestions, prayers, and questions Michelle provides throughout the book, we learn how to follow Jesus even when it hurts.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
