Friend Of The Week – The Monday Box

Wendy

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so for this week’s party, I wanted to feature a blogger that encapsulated the essence of love. I searched high and low and was delighted to discover that Wendy at The Monday Box fits the mold to the tee!

Kiss Cookies

Have you ever been away at college, homesick and yearning for a taste of home? Or, perhaps, you’re feeling the sting of the empty nest for the first time as your young ones fly away to colleges and careers that are far from you?

Well, Wendy – a mom who always relished being actively involved in her children’s lives – started to go a little stir-crazy when her youngest son went off to college, so she decided to multi-task matters into her own hands. She began to send her son care packages each Monday that were filled to the brim with all sorts of homemade goodies and other surprises. She called them the “Monday Box”. And – when she decided to start a food-centric blog- she discovered that she’d already found her niche in a very popular field!

Through trial and error, Wendy has discovered that certain baked goods travel better than others – so you will want to explore her blog, look for her specialty guides and goodie boxes, and check out her amazing treats. I’ve provided a sampling of a few of my favorites here, including her Valentine-themed Kiss Cookies and her Shortbread Thumbprint Cookies for the guys.

Pax The Sheltie

Wendy even created a Paw Prints Dog Care Package that features Peanut Butter Cookies for your favorite canines! These delicious doggie treats were inspired by Wendy’s beautiful Sheltie, Pax, who “adopted” Wendy when he was 6 months old!

As you can imagine, I have just scratched the surface of Wendy’s amazing blog. If you want to see what love in action looks like (and discover some amazing recipes in the process), be sure to visit Wendy and congratulate her for being our Friend Of The Week at Friendship Friday at Create With Joy!

What a wonderful and caring idea. I can see this being a very commercial one too, if she wanted to take it further.
