The Book Of Comforts: Genuine Encouragement For Hard Times – Review

In the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3 teaches us that there is a season for every purpose under the sun, including uprooting, dying, weeping, mourning, searching and healing.

If you are in a season of grief due to any type of loss in your life and are trying to find your way back into a new season of speaking, laughing, dancing, and loving again, then I highly recommend The Book Of Comforts: Genuine Encouragement For Hard Times as a devotional companion on your journey.

Book Of Comforts 1

This beautifully and sensitively written book is filled with Scriptures, word art, essays and color photography from four writers from She Reads Truth (if you own the She Reads Truth Bible, you will be familiar with their style).

If you are new to She Reads Truth, imagine a group of friends sharing their personal stories of loss and redemption with you and walking with you as they help you discover God and His healing power in the midst of your pain.

Book Of Comforts 2

The goal of The Book Of Comforts is to offer you:

  • Comfort In God Alone
  • Comfort In Praise
  • Comfort In Dark Places
  • Comfort In Restoration
  • Comfort In Truth

The book is divided into these five sections and – if you like to journal your thoughts – there is plenty of space in the white margins for you to do so.

Book Of Comforts 2

In the Foreword, Angie Smith writes:

I hope that as you read, you remember that while all of our stories differ in circumstances, they don’t differ in the common goal to find comfort in the God of the universe through the love letter He wrote for all of us. Turn the pages and ask to find Him there. Hold this book in your hands as a reminder that you aren’t alone.

In 1816, Thomas Moore said:

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

May The Book Of Comforts help usher you in to the next season of your life.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This sounds and looks like a great book that would really come in handy for times of sadness and loss.

  2. Wow, what a beautiful book. Right now I teach a scripture class to a group of youth and we always start with a favorite scripture before the lesson. Lately, we’ve encouraged them to share a scripture that provide comfort, hope, or protection. We are collecting a list of these scriptures to give the kids at the end of the year so that they can have a whole “pile” of them to go to in hard times. It’s been a wonderful thing to hear so many scriptures we can take comfort from, day after day. I think comfort is one of the main reason we have scriptures. (Romans 15:4) Thanks for sharing at #heartandsoullinkup

  4. What a great idea for a book! To read of others experiencing grief and walking similar journeys could be very comforting when you may not be in a place where you want to reach out to people yet.
