What’s On Your Mind – Excellence

Topic Of The Week: Excellence

Welcome to What’s On Your Mind – a place to share your thoughts on issues near and dear to a blogger’s heart!

Topic Of The Week: Excellence

This week, I’d like to discuss a quality we all strive for – in life, in work, in blogging. That quality is Excellence.

Webster defines Excellence as:

  • The state of possessing good qualities in an eminent degree
  • An excellent or valuable quality
  • That by which any one excels or is eminent

When it comes to blogging, what qualities do you excel at?

  • Are you a masterful graphic designer?
  • Are you a terrific technical guru?
  • Do your photographs speak volumes?
  • Do your stories make reader laugh and cry?
  • Do your words move people to action?
  • Do you excel at connecting with others?
  • Are you a marketing guru?
  • Are you at your best when you share your creative talents?

Don’t be shy or overly modest. Each of us does certain things well. Own your talents. Embrace them. Encourage others with your gifts!

Questions

1. What areas do you excel at when it comes to blogging?

2. Share a favorite blog with us. What does that blogger excel at that keeps you coming back for more?

Thank you so much for participating – have a fabulous week!

Design is definitely my weak point. I think I do excel in helping people reflect on their blessings in life and also encourage them to make the most of every opportunity they have to make a difference in the world around them.
    Thanks for visiting my blog!

  10. shah wharton says:

Mmmm, excellence. I'm not excellent at anything. I'm not bad at telling short stories and I do poetry. I enjoy conecting an communing with like-minded peeps online – I have managed to build a mental health community (Monday Madness linky)which has been great. And a creative of which you are a part (Weekend Creation Blog Hop.)I have weaknesses in everything though. I doubt anyone is truly 'Excellent' at anything. Excellence to me implies perfection and then some. Is anyone perfect – humanity is essentially and thankfully flawed. Great thought provoking post as per Sweetie. Have a great weekend. Shah. X

I teach high school journalism and EXCELLENCE is our mantra….I insist on excellence in all that you do!! For me it is my writing where I concentrate my highest level work, since I have been writing since fifth grade (trust me…long time!) I like what I see on your blog…I will follow and return…and hope that you will visit my site as well! Great topic!

  15. Stacy Uncorked says:

I love the word 'excellence'! 🙂

I take pride in excelling in graphic design and photography – I'd sure love to excel in better content rather than feeling 'stuck' in meme-mode! 😉

Gees, tough one today PPrincess! I don't like analyzing myself in front of others…LOL.
    1) I excel at changes, and creativity.
    2) I admire many bloggers, <a href="http://www.wanderingthought.com/IcyBC</a> for she runs five successful blogs with nice PR ranks and PR ranks are not easy to achieve.

  18. Jessa says:

Intriguing post and questions. I'm not really sure why people read my blog. I always just assume that they enjoy sarcasm and purposefully bad grammar. That and I'm nuts. New follower from Friendly Friday.

  19. JamericanSpice says:

    Those are great questions.
I'm not sure what I really excel at in blogging. I just do it as an outlet for me.

A nut in a nutshell is a great blog. E writes with such passion and fun and always make me laugh.

  20. Smash Bravo Team says:

I have always tried to provide Excellence in our bog. Whether it's a review for a product or a giveaway I always try to give the sponsor and readers as much info as I can without making it boring. We also do as much promotion as we can and as our first year anniversary approaches me and my girls are really happy with what we have accomplished and can not wait to see the final numbers once July comes around.

Here from the Alexa hop, thanks for such a great post. It really got me thinking!

  21. Jeanette says:

I'd say I'm pretty good at promoting, with the exception of facebook. I gained over 1700 views on my blog the first month. The only thing I hate trying to get is Facebook fans – it's almost impossible without buying an ad – even a giveaway doesn't seem to help the facebook mojo

  22. Lisa's Loft says:

I like your blog. I'm a new follower and a blogging newbie. I would like to improve my blog any way I can. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Come by and see me.

  25. Sandy Elliott says:

I am creative but I'm not sure I excel there. Excellence is a tough word, a fairly high degree for anyone to achieve. I know there are a lot of areas that I wished I excelled at, photography, better content for my blog readers, a wittier voice on the page, I could go on…great post though. One that got me thinking.

  28. JDaniel4's Mom says:

I love Ostriches Look Funny. Her posts are heartwarming and filled with great pictures.

  29. Jenny says:

You always make me think. I think I'm kind of an oblivious blogger. I just do my thing whether it's the 'right' thing or not. When I used to try to figure out all the 'should' and 'should not's' of blogging it made me not want to blog at all.

So now I just wander around in my own little world…it's a comfortable place for me.

Thanks for an excellent link this week.

    A+

  30. Nikki says:

I try to be excellent just by being myself, being honest, and writing interesting content. I don't know if I succeed at the last, to me it's interesting, but I try!

I have so many blogs that I admire for so many different reasons. From the huge ones that help little bloggers succeed (Simply Stacie, Makobi Scribe, Marni's Organized Mess) to the smaller book blogs that help me decide what I should read, to the personal blogs that make me laugh with tales of funny children and parenting debacles- they all are excellent in some way.

I'm here from the Alexa hop, by the way!

  31. Grace says:

I really like the idea of using Brie in this recipe. Sounds like a wonderful recipe.
I'm glad I came by for a visit today so I could see this.
