Happy WOYWW to you all! Today I am sending my love by card as I am busy behind the scenes preparing for several big blogging events! You can see what Mister Naughty Pants is up to on Wordless Wednesday (he got caught on film in the midst of yet another trick!)
Today bloggers everywhere are sadly saying farewell to GFC (Google officially retires Google Friend Connect on March 1st and replaces GFC with Following on Blogger). Since Create With Joy is on WordPress, please stay in touch by adding me to your sidebar/blog roll or resubscribing through:
Have a fabulous week and I look forward to seeing What’s On Your Workspace This Wednesday!
Google isn’t retiring GFC for anyone on BLOGGER….only WordPress and with WordPress you can subscribe by email (which is what I prefer to do anyway)
Dakota’s blog is on WordPress and I don’t show followers…
Cat Chat is on Blogger and from what I understand, GFC is staying in tact there.

Hi Caren
There’s been a lot of confusion re: exactly what Google is doing with GFC but here is what I understand, direct from Google and the Blogger boards:
1) Per the November 2011 Google announcement, Google is retiring GFC for all non-Blogger blogs as of 3-1-12. They are encouraging ALL GFC users to move to Google Plus. The former GFC site is unavailable as of today (2-28-12) – I tried to access it this morning to send a final newsletter to my subscribers but was unable to. If you search for it, you are connected to the new Following site (which I mentioned in my post.
The latest Google announcement re: this is here:
2) Now here is the official word from Blogger, via NiteCruzer, one of the Blogger Forum SUpport People:
Google is dropping support for Friend Connect, to concentrate their community building in Google+. Blogger will replace GFC with Following on our blogs, and will remove all extraneous Google code which made GFC unstable. Please read all articles, to get a complete picture.

3) Now, technically, from reading these posts (trust me, I have researched the issue and there is plenty of gobbly-gook to go round) – what Nite Cruzer explains on his blog, The Real Blogger Status, on his post Google Friend Connect Accessory to Be Provided by Blogger (post is at http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/2011/11/google-friend-connect-accessory-to-be.html) is that on Blogger Blogs, GFC is ALSO being replaced by the Follower Gadget – which from what I can gather, will in some ways function like GFC (you will not lose your followers like non-Blogger blogs will) – but it will not have the complete functionality that GFC currently has. (As of today, it seems like functionality like newsletters, APIs, etc have been removed).
Here is a direct quote from his post:
“By removing Google Friend Connect from the Followers accessory, Blogger is hoping that the code supporting the Followers gadget can be simplified, and will become more stable. This will hopefully resolve many of the recently reported outages, both in the blog face display, and in our dashboard and Reading Lists.”
So, in actuality, GFC IS being retired, for everyone, but a similar gadget is being provided for Blogger (for now) that will maintain your readers until Google decides to elimiate that completely (which most people believe WILL happen) since they have publically stated that their focus is on building up Google Plus.
I hope that clarifies (rather than muddies) the issue for everyone! 🙂
P.S. I look forward to hearing from Blogger bloggers what they actually CAN do with the new Follower gadget after March 1: can you still read all of your blogs in one place like you can on a RSS feed? Or do you just follow and have your subscribers show on your blog’s page?
This is so pretty.
My entry.
What a great card. I’m not participating this week but thought I’d pop in on a few blogs.
Happy WOYWW
Hugs,
Kay

awesome card this week! I have had you on my Google reader for a while and I understand that isn’t going to be affected. Better not! Have a great week. Vickie

Hi Vickie,
I hope not – test it after the 1st and let me know! Quite frankly, with ALL of the changes that Google is implementing on 3/1, I think it will be several days before those of us who use their products realize the full impact of all of the changes!
I am currently exploring different networks and assessing what makes sense for this community in terms of ways to connect. I want to give everyone as many options as possible so that they can connect in the ways that they like best without totally overwhelming myself!
The interesting thing that I’m discovering however is that the way you communicate and the content you provide across networks is not necessarily the same! For instance, if you subscribe to this blog by email or through a RSS feed or place it on a live feed on your sidebar, you will get the published posts. However, if you subscribe through a non-automated forum, you may end up with something entirely different! For instance, I don’t use an automated feed on Twitter, so you probably won’t be updated at the moment of all of my posts – but if you actually want to chat with me see additional info, that’s the place to be! I just opened my Google Plus account and am learning the ropes but already I’m planning to share additional content that I won’t be sharing here (just because I am finding that certain networks lend themselves to different things!)
So I mourn the loss of GFC – but I’m learning a lot about what’s out there in the process!

I’d hate to lose all my favorite non blogger sites if GFC disappears! It’s too tedious to go through it all now!!! Patsy from HeARTworks

I know! The worst thing about it is it’s like starting from scratch – you visit your favorite bloggers and you THINK you’re following them and you really aren’t!
When I converted my blog to custom domain on Blogger, Blogger wiped out ALL of my blog rolls and I lost countless blogs that I was following at that time – they never responded to me on the help forums – to this day there are STILL blogs that I loved that I never found again (because I had so many I just couldn’t remember them all!)
Lovely card!
How creative!

Lovely cards.
That’s a lovely card.
Thanks for the info about GFC. I have mastered using these things, but have very little understanding of how they work, so because I have a blogger blog, I am just waiting to see what happens. But I have had my blog for a year and would be sad to lose my loyal followers. I opened a Google+ account some time ago but so far I haven’t used it. may be I need to get to grips with that now. Kate x
I don’t really understand the changes to Google Friend connect/follow doo-hickey thing. I guess I’d fuddle it all out when I need to. And thank you for sending your love my way today. If you have some spare cookies and don’t mind, could you send some of those along too? That Mr. Naughty Pants…. Last night Jack attacked the box of pizza (which I have no idea why it wasn’t in the fridge) and knocked it over, but he knocked it onto its lid so no pizza for Jack. Never fear, Mr. NP would have gotten an invite to the pizza party had there been one.
i have taken down my GFC just now 🙁 I think you are one of my follower on GFC. Did you get my last newsletter from it? I hope you will join my other network 🙂 And I really like your post regarding Klout. Very clear and informative!

Have a great WOYWW and a fab week, Luv Karen xx
Love those colours – a great card…Sarah at 1 having a late WOYWW peek on Friday!
Love your composition – my eye moves all around your card. Also love the different sized elements from the green flower to the flower like print on the paper to the different sized scallops.
Personally, I decided quite sometime ago not to mess with most of these things. I have everyone I follow under my favorites and as long as they keep that I am fine and can add to the list. All this mucking around and the so called better and better is going to be a large psychological mess for people’s minds.
