I believe that all animals – especially cats – are GREAT judges of character and I pay close attention to how my pets react to people they are just meeting! (This is particularly sage advice for all of you who are single and dating!) I have never had an animal steer me wrong. Our instincts often get clouded by oughts and ought nots but they “tell it like it is”! 🙂
The saying must be just a metaphore for asking someone he takes care of? There is another one that I’ve heard such as, if you want to see the true character of a man, “see him under pressure.” Smiles.
I am familiar with that quote and it is a great (and apt) one too! Thanks for bringing it to mind – have a great day! 🙂
