I love biographies and autobiographies especially. Currently, I’m reading about the comedian Danny Kaye. On my shelf is a book about the singing group The Carpenters. Thanks for hosting!
I do too Loy! Bet those books are interesting. Have a fabulous weekend!
I read all sorts of books, but my favorites are romance, mostly historical ones. I am not really a big fan of horror, mystery or sci-fi so I tend to avoid reading those at all. I have about 6 books here to read – I went to the library plus bought two . The one I am currently on is “The Importance of being Wicked” by Victoria Alexander. ^.^ I also read “The Memoir Project” last week and have been using that to write some entries on my blog. PS: I love FF and being able to share!:)
Thanks Cass, I’m so glad you are enjoying Friendship Friday!
I am making a note to check out The Memoir Project right now!
Look forward to catching up on your latest blog entries!
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having a fabulous week!
I love books and enjoy reading a little of everything (although I probably enjoy some genres more than others and have chosen to eliminate a few for various reasons over the years!)
Right now I am reading a compelling book called Fearless about one of our most heroic Navy Seals. I am finding it hard to put the book down, and am looking forward to sharing more about the book on my blog!
Am looking forward to catching up on more books and more reading challenges in the weeks to come. What about you? Look forward to reading your posts and comments! 🙂
Since you asked about books I shared a post I wrote about The God Box. Have you read it? Blessings to you from NanaHood!
Teresa
No, Teresa, I am not familiar with that book – look forward to checking it out!
I have a brand-new ebook Love You Forever: Signs from Loved Ones in Heaven and it is available as a free download on my blog, so everyone is welcome to get a copy! XO Cindy
How sweet of you to do that Cindy – thank you so much! Have a fabulous weekend!
I tend to read historical/literary works. For example, I just finished Michael Chabon’s “Telegraph Avenue,” and, with mesmerizing words, it really delves into the history of Oakland & race relations. Having said that, though, I’m currently reading Brad Meltzer’s “The Inner Circle,” which is a contemporary political thriller. Really, I’ll take a look at anything…except for horror.
Wow, I can see my wish list is going to be growing by leaps and bounds this week!
Michael Chabon’s Telegraph Avenue sounds fascinating. I am going to add that to my list of books to check out as well.
For all of you readers, I recently did a post on 2013 Reading Challenges (see my sidebar).
If you are participating in any of them and have book reviews you would like to share,
Feel free to link them up! 🙂
I’m with Loy, my favorites are autobiographies and biographies. True stories are true–that makes them so much more fascinating to me. And in anyone’s life you can see God at work and learn lessons as well as about the time and place they lived!
I have really gotten into memoirs these past few years for that very reason.
I look for the opportunity to review them every chance I get!
Thanks for sharing, Sharon – hope your week is fab!
Oh reeeally? I have a memoir in need of a few reviewing readers… shall I send you a proper Review Request rather than pitching you a spiel about it here in comments? If so, where may I address my email?
Uttley
(who is hooked on narrative fiction these days)
Hi Eugene,
Hope your weekend is off to a fabulous start!
You will find my e-mail address on my sidebar at the top where the envelope icon is and at the bottom where it says Contact.
It has been way too long since I’ve buried my head in some good narrative fiction…
I read all kind of books and Genres, from horror to philosophy. Right now I am re-reading The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. Before that one I read book 6 of The Mary O Reilly series, one of the cheap finds at Amazon. It’s a pretty awesome paranormal series.
I saw The Hobbit (movie) during the holidays and really loved it – I will have to go back and read that plus The Lord Of The Rings trilogy (my all time fave) sometime soon!
I used to read the whole series annually but somewhere along the line I stopped and I miss it! 🙂
I’m currently reading a book by Untraceable by Shelli Johannes Wells. So far, it’s a great YA novel!
http://joycelansky.blogspot.com
If there is one genre that I am frequently tempted to read that I currently don’t, it is novels – I see some of the coolest books out there!
Fun, fun! It’s still Thursday night here, so I don’t have my Friday post up, yet! It’s so awesome that you do this; tomorrow’s post won’t really fit into the theme, but no worry: I can participate when the theme is relevant. Awesome stuff! Thank you. 🙂
HI Cindy,
Thanks for stopping by! You’re welcome to share your answers in the comments and still link up if you’d like – that way, people can still stop by and get to know you this week! 🙂
I haven’t been reading ANYTHING lately, much to my dismay. Having a toddler and writing a blog is about all I can handle! Thank you for the hop!
Ah, having a toddler is tough, and writing a blog? That’s like having a second baby!
You’re excused from reading. Go take a nap! 🙂
I don’t have a favorite genre, but do stay away from books with graphic sex or violence, and vulgar language. Currently reading “Letters from a Homesteader Woman”.
That sounds interesting. Will have to check it out!
I’m participating in a reading challenge (the postal one) that it sounds perfect for!
I’ve always loved reading and have enjoyed many different genres over the years. Right now, I do so much research that I prefer light reading when I’m offline – typically Christian fiction or chick lit. 🙂
Yes, it’s nice to have balance in one’s life – when my brain goes on overdrive, that’s when I like to veg out in front of the tv!
Thanks for hosting once again. Boy, this is some theme! Books put me to sleep unless it’s the ones I like. LOL Have a great weekend!
Ah, I’m surprised – that’s something new I just learned about you!
Hmmm… now the question is – what keeps you awake?
Enjoy your weekend Dolly!
Hi lovely!! Linked up (of course) Thank you for hosting!!
Come on by and check out the Aloha Friday Blog Hop if you haven’t yet! Aloha Friday Blog Hop {HERE}
Aloha,
Jean
I like to avoid political books. I like biographies, self development, corporate general. I don’t get stuck on certain kinds of books really, I enjoy mags more, and have a couple that I am addicted to. Have a wonderful friday.
I’m love reading magazines too, Amanda! Which ones are your fave?
I’ve found my tastes in mags, just like books, have changed over the years!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I always read like six books at a time. Reading A Year of Biblical Womanhood, Searching for God Knows What, Knowing God, and I think some kind of teeny bopper mystery that I misplaced in my bedroom. I am mostly writing a lot these days.
I don’t know that I necessarily plan to read six books at a time,
But it seems like I always have a stack of “in-progress” books in various rooms of my house as well!
Have a great weekend and I will be in touch! 🙂
OMG! Reading this makes me feel so sad because I haven’t picked up a book and read from cover to cover since college. I wish I had time for it, but I never seem to make time or find the right book. I wanted to get a book club together, but it fell through. When I did get to read I was a murder mystery kind of girl. I always liked to read something that kept me on my toes until the very end.
Hi Stephanie,
So glad you joined us this week!
There is no time like the present to make time to read a good book!
I am sure one of our readers could recommend some good suspense and/or murder mysteries to you!
Have a great week and I’d love to hear what you come up with! 🙂
Thanks so much, and have a wonderful weekend too!
RE = “I haven’t picked up a book and read from cover to cover since college. ”
Such will power! 😀
Hmmm… well, the best advice I would give to any aspiring writer is to read, read, read! 🙂
I love chick flicks books! 🙂
Bloghopping from :
http://prewchatterly.com
That’s a popular category these days!
I have a penchant for historical romance. 🙂 Reading relaxes me – though I haven’t had a chance to read the last couple of weeks…no wonder I’m stressed! 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting – have a great weekend! 🙂
Aloha Friday Free For All: Super Bowl Sunday Fun
Ahh – Stacy – go find yourself a good book to curl up with SOON!
Have a great weekend!
The perfect week for us to link up as we just posted about our Book Club selection this week. Thanks for hosting!
Looks like a great book club choice, Christine – wish I had time to join you!
Have fun and keep us apprised of your book selections in the upcoming months!
You were right; this is a topic that I love. Some people don’t believe I ever hated reading but I didn’t start enjoying it until I was in the 6th grade. It really is about finding something that draws you into the story and makes you forget about everything around you…at least it is for me.
Thanks for hosting!
– Tracey
Wow, Tracey, I love learning interesting tidbits like this!
I’m so glad to hear you were able to discover a way into books at a relatively early age –
I have always loved reading and used to spend my childhood allowances on books!
Have a great weekend and have fun at the party!
I love reading, but haven’t had much time for that lately.
Thanks for hosting and have a happy weekend!!
Thanks for linking up with my NO RULES Weekend Blog Party as an “early bird” :))
Paula
lifeasweknowitbypaula.blogspot.com
Of course not – you’re always blogging and socializing – lol!
Have a great weekend Paula – I’ll still let you hang on to your Early Bird card!
Hello everyone! I’m looking to build friendships with other bloggers and not just having readers comment justto return follow. I hope you feel the same way-thanks!
Sure do Tess – so glad you joined us this weekend!
Best of luck on your upcoming move – your cake balls look delicious, by the way!
Thanks for hosting, friend! I love to read, when I can find the time, lol. My stack of books is so high on my nightstand and my Kindle has lots on it, too. I read a lot of spiritual reflections/studies, historical fiction, biographies and lately some on canning/homesteading recipes. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend.
You too Lisa – thinks for sharing your love of reading with us!
Have an awesome weekend and thanks for hosting… I just love your hops!
Thanks Meryl – I love your Color article this week!
This post is inspiring me to read more then I do. I am constantly on here reading blogs. At night I do the most reading. I have been reading a lot of biographies lately.
Tabby
http://www.shoppingwives.com
I’m so happy to hear that Tabitha!
For me, it seems I am always reading “between” tasks.
I just signed up for the Mini-Bloggiesta weekend.
One of the things I really want to focus on is just spending some undistracted time reading this weekend!
My contribution this week has a book theme, but the idea is that I am participating in a chapbook learning challenge all month long.
As far as what books I like….
I have 5 Billy Bookshelves full from IKEA, and the subjects vary, from fiction, faith, cats, cooking, politics, humor inspiration, poetry, and creative writing how to and prompt books.
Your chapbook challenge sounds awesome!
So do your books! You should share some of the titles with us – that would make a great Wordless Wed photo!
I think I can do that. 😀
Thanks for hosting! =)
I love to read romance books, including Love Inspired books and Love Inspired Historical books. One of my other favorite genres is cozy mysteries! =)
Im currently reading a Love Inspired book called “Second Chance in Dry Creek” by Janet Tronstad and “The Last Boyfriend” by Nora Roberts.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve read anything in the love/romance/historical genres –
or probably a mystery either, although I used to devour mysteries as a teen!
One book I did read as a teenager that I truly enjoyed, however –
and I’d like to go back and revisit one of these days –
is Gone With The Wind!
I’d like to see what they did with the movie adaption of that, for that matter!
Thanks for the linky party and for the book review also. Take care, Linda

What a lovely meme you have built here! Thanks for allowing me to share.
Thanks Deb – glad you’ve joined us!
I Love a good mystery! I just finished The Girl With The Dragon tattoo series what a great read. Lisbeth is a very strong women in this story not someone you want to mess with. Books have always been a part of my journey in life so there is none that I really try to avoid. What I am reading now is a book from Mary Higgins Clark Wedding Cake series and waiting for Maeve Binchy last book to come out. Have a great weekend and happy reading!
Sounds fab! When I get caught up on my current crop of books, I think I’d like to add some good suspense books to my list!
Have a fab week Marcie!
As you can see, I love my Bible! And I love surrounding myself with other books too, and reading as time permits. Thanks for hosting & God bless!
You too Laurie! Are you reading any specific book in the Bible currently, or reading through the Bible this year?
