I have always been fascinated by the power of words. I truly believe that the pen is mightier than the sword. I also believe that words are powerful tools that have the power to change your life.
That’s why I love the One Word Challenge – an alternative approach to traditional New Year’s Resolutions. Simply choose One Word – any word – that represents who you are – who you want to be – who you are becoming – or what you want your year to be about. It doesn’t matter which word you pick as long as it’s significant to you.
Be serious. Be playful. Be lofty. Be light. You’ll soon discover that the One Word Challenge is a practice that is simultaneously simple and profound.
Then, share your word with us – either by linking up your One Word blog post or by writing about it in the comments. The unveiling of the words is always an inspirational time of exploration and discovery!
My official word for 2013 is Journey – a word I feel God whispered in my ear. I don’t know what the year holds in store – but to me, Journey embodies a willingness to embrace and learn from all of the life’s experiences!
Happy New Year to you. May you experience an abundance of joy in your journey!

Am coming across this concept all over the place and have been trying to think of just one word for 2013: and the more I think about it, I think I’m going with Grateful. So much happened in 2012 that was unexpected, painful and sad, that 2013 has got to be better – so that’s the first thing to be Grateful about. I’ll think on, as they say, and blog about it later, but will join the blog hop anyway, ‘cos I love being part of this party!

Grateful – what a beautiful word for the year!
So glad you found us and joined us Isobel!
I hope your New Year is off to a wonderful start. I finally wrote a bit about my One Word post as part of a progress report on the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge.
Joy, I’m so glad that you could join our party! CRAFT is such an awesome word! I have really been enjoying your blog and am SO glad we have connected in this new year!
A bit of a late addition, but just stumbled across this page, and this one word concept is new to me this year, but I have started this tradition and will stick to it in the future. Just love it. My word is “EASY”, after too much time spent making everything harder than it need to be, it’s time to swing the pendulum the other way! Wishing you a wonderfull year ahead. xx Nikki
EASY. Nikki, I think that is one of the best words I have come across! I need to keep this in mind for the future.
I am the queen of complication!
I wish you ALL the best (and would love to hear about your journey this year!)
My word is writer 🙂
