One Word 2013 Blog Hop – Journey

OneWord2013_journey - 500

I have always been fascinated by the power of words. I truly believe that the pen is mightier than the sword. I also believe that words are powerful tools that have the power to change your life.

That’s why I love the One Word Challenge – an alternative approach to traditional New Year’s Resolutions. Simply choose One Word – any word – that represents who you are – who you want to be – who you are becoming – or what you want your year to be about. It doesn’t matter which word you pick as long as it’s significant to you.

Be serious. Be playful. Be lofty. Be light. You’ll soon discover that the One Word Challenge is a practice that is simultaneously simple and profound.

Then, share your word with us – either by linking up your One Word blog post or by writing about it in the comments. The unveiling of the words is always an inspirational time of exploration and discovery!

My official word for 2013 is Journey – a word I feel God whispered in my ear. I don’t know what the year holds in store – but to me, Journey embodies a willingness to embrace and learn from all of the life’s experiences!

Happy New Year to you. May you experience an abundance of joy in your journey!

Love this! I read a book a few years ago where the characters did this and I adopted it as my alternative to traditional resolutions. The past year my word was gratitude. I’m waiting on confirmation for 2013’s word but will definitely come back and link up once I get it. Happy New Year to you!!!

Happy New Year to you Michelle – I look forward to finding out what your word is for 2013!
For most of 2012, I thought I would be choosing a different word for 2013,
But when it came time to actually pick my word, Journey was the one that kept coming to mind…

I understand totally about the confirmation process… you will know when you know! 🙂

  3. Melissa says:

I agree with you about the power of words! Thanks for sharing about the One Word Button too! The word “Joy” has really stood out to me (and my daughter) this past year … I even wrote about how she now rolls her eyes when she sees the word … which is probably not a good thing! http://bit.ly/UXcEeE

    Happy New Year!

=) Thanks so much for mentioning Melanie and her Blog over the weekend!
Melanie is so sweet! she made my “One Word” blog button, which I used in my link up.

I chose Faith, because of my Faith in God, and Faith that my Family and I will have a wonderful New Year!

Happy New Year LuAnn – I can’t wait to see what word you will choose for 2013!

I have set this party to stay open for the entire month of 2013, so there is plenty of time for you to pick your words if you are just finding out about the concept… Please help spread the word about the party and if you like, stop by Melanie’s to get your FREE button (in black or white) – she is such a blessing to us all! 🙂

  7. Debbie says:

This is such a great idea! Will definitely link up and I wish you well on your JOURNEY. Happy New Year!

  8. Helen says:

    Balance.
It seems that everything that is out of whack in my life all comes down to needing more balance, so that’s my word of the year 🙂 Balance in housework, balance in eating, balance in time management, balance in hobbies, etc.
I’m wayyyyy too much all-or-nothing. Then one thing gets my focus and everything else falls by the wayside. Balance would help it all 🙂

    • Create With Joy
      Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
      says:

Wow, Helen – Balance is TRULY a word that most of us can relate to!
That is such a fabulous choice!
Best of luck to you on your Journey – I look forward to reading about your progress! 🙂

When I look back over the rocky road that was the past year, and as I look to the future, I would have to say that my one word has been, is and will always be faith! God be with you in the coming year.

  22. Loy says:

What a great idea! Thanks for coming up with the ‘one word blog hop’ . I look forward to reading everybody’s 2013 word!

  23. Tereasa says:

Journey is actually similar to my word! Last year my word was “abide.” This year I have chosen “go.” After a year of learning to abide in the Lord, it has been a natural progression to go in the Lord.

  24. So interesting. I’m late in linking up, but I am joining with the word “Discovery”, and that’s what I blogged about. I didn’t even realize there was a “one word” blog hop until after the Lord gave me that word. 🙂 Anyway, I’m excited about 2013. Also, I LOVE “Joy in the Journey”. My late husband and I chose that for one of our songs when we renewed our vows on our 30th wedding anniversary. Thanks for sharing it, and for hosting and inspiring. — Nancy

Nancy, hearing that Joy In The Journey is the song that you and your late husband renewed your 30th wedding anniversary vows to really touched my heart. I had personally picked Connect to be my word for this year… but when I got Melanie’s post about the buttons and started reflecting on my word, I felt the Lord was whispering Journey in my ear… so Journey is what I went with. Discovery is also a fabulous word! May you make many fabulous Discoveries on your Journey through 2013!

  25. April says:

My “theme” for this year is Lean. But it’s not just about weight, it’s about finance and and simplicity. I want to slim down on “stuff” and debt!

Stopping by from the Friendly Friday Hop. Have a great day!

    Hi Wendy,
I really like the word “journey” because it’s ongoing. I can look back at the journey God’s had me on, and still forward where He’ll take me next. (I guess it’s obvious I like the word since it’s part of my blog name–Journey in Faith. lol)
    Blessings,
    Laura
