500 Handmade Books, Volume 2

500 Handmade Books - Vol 2

Happy WOYWW to you, dear friends! Today I’d like to share a book that I recently received from my friend, fellow blogger and author Cym Lowell. The book is called 500 Handmade Books – Volume 2 and was compiled by Julie Chen (the book artist, not the television personality!)

500 Handmade Books Vol 2 Back Cover

500 Handmade Books, Volume 2 contains an amazing collection of “provocative and visually dynamic works” that range from the traditional to the experimental to the boundary-pushing.

500 Handmade Books - Interior 4

Aside from the Introduction, there isn’t really anything to read in this book – there is just page after page of stunning photographs of one incredible book after another!

500 Handmade Books - Interior 2

Books that unfold, unfurl and flip.

500 Handmade Books - Insert 1

Books that range from simple in style to earthy and interesting to bold and beautiful.

500 Handmade Books - Interior 3

Books that incorporate every object imaginable into their design: wasp nest, glass, metal, twigs, and “found” objects of all types!

00 Handmade Books - Interior 5

If you are a paper crafter, mixed media artist, or altered book lover, you may want to have a hankie nearby to collect the drool as you peruse this book!

  18. I enjoyed your blog. You always have such great ideas.

  19. I have a friend who would love this book, although she may wish they all came with directions. There is so much creativity in there. My hubby has a friend who does found art such as wall hangings or objects d’art and it is amazing to see what he finds and what he does with them. Now doing that and incorporating them into a handmade book is just one more interesting step!

  20. Linda says:

Thanks for showing this book. Love it. Best wishes, Linda
