A Humble Prayer Request – From My Family To Yours

Several weeks ago, my sister-in-law was rushed to the hospital
Where she began a fight for her life.

She didn’t know it at the time though.
Shortly upon entering the ICU ward,
She went into a coma, which lasted for more than a week.

The doctors had a lot of theories about what might be happening
But no real answers to the nature or cause of her condition.
The outlook was grim.
They told us to brace for the worst.

At that time, words I heard during my quiet time gently came to mind:

Prayer can accomplish what people cannot.

And so, I asked those closest to me to pray.
They did and a miracle occurred.
To the doctors amazement – she survived –
Though at great cost.
Because of clotting, she lost her arm in the process.

This week, we received more bad news.
The new doctor on her case told us she may never walk again.
He also wants her transferred from the safe confines of the hospital
(Where her previous doctors said she needed to stay long-term)
To a long-term rehab facility which we have great concerns about.

In moments like these, our faith is tested.
In moments like these, we must ask ourselves:

Do we truly walk by faith or by sight?

And so, dear friends, I implore you –
If you are among my faith-filled friends in this community:

Please pray for my sister-in-law’s safety and continued healing.
Please pray that she is able to walk and care for herself again.
Please pray for wisdom on her doctor’s part in treating her.
Please pray that we are able to place her in a safe facility when the time comes.

Thank you for your support!

Please accept my thought and prayers for your sister-in-law and family. I’m so very sorry to have read this awful news. I had a customer ask me to make a ring for her. It reads “I will follow you into the dark”. I think this means, God is always with you even into the darkest times? I’m not a person of faith who attends church, but I pray when ever I just need to talk to him. I will say a few words for you and your family!

    • Thank you so much for your prayers and your note!
I love the sentiment on that ring.
Not every person who attends church is necessarily a person of faith, and
Many people who don’t attend church have a thriving relationship with the Lord.
      Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

  2. Taking the time to pray for your sister-in-law…God is able to bring peace and comfort and answer these prayers for your family! ♥

  3. XmasDolly says:

    • Thanks Marie for selecting me as your Spotlight Dancer this week!
I’m glad you enjoyed my inspirational song!
I also have a song on Friendship Friday that you might enjoy as well if you have a moment to stop by!

  4. Rorybore says:

That is a perfectly inspiring song. great choice for this week.

    • Thanks – I’m glad you enjoyed the song!
I see you’ve also written about Faith on your blog.
There were SO many faith-inspired posts at last week’s party – truly, one of the most inspiring weeks we’ve had!

  5. lydiaf says:

Thank you so much for featuring my tuna empanadas. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and Judy H’s. I’m gratified to know that a group of people who have never met in the flesh can lift one another up via this marvelous thing called the internet.

    • You’re so welcome Lydia! Not only do they look delicious, I chose them especially because I think my husband will love them!

I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It’s been an incredibly stressful time for us, and yet, we are uplifted daily by God’s power, grace and mercy.

  6. Thanks for hosting, Ramona. Have a great week.

  7. Poppy says:

    Hi Ramona,

So sorry to hear about your sister-in-law; sending positive thoughts and prayers her way.

Thanks for hosting and wishing you the best this week.

  8. My heart goes out to you and your family, your sister-in-law is and will continue to be in our prayers, we all are tested in many ways, but keep your faith and keep praying, and the Lord will guide you and your family.

    • Thank you so much Jay.
I have definitely felt God’s presence during this time.
Sometimes you really do have to trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding.
      Have a wonderful week!

  9. momstheword says:

I will pray for your sister-in-law. It’s always scary when they change doctors and the doctor totally goes against what the previous doctors said. But we know that God is in control and can totally trust Him for wisdom. I will pray for wisdom and direction for the doctors and for healing and for peace for all of you too.

I’m sorry for the loss of your friend too. You’ve had a rough week! Thanks for hosting today and praying you have a better week!

    • Thank you so much for your prayers and comfort.
I don’t normally share personal stuff like this on my blog but tonight I felt prompted too so perhaps she is in need of extra prayer right now.
I know God is in control and and doing my best to trust in Him – no matter what the outcome – because He knows the end from the beginning and I do not.

  10. says:

We’re delighted to have you as our Spotlight Dancer this week, Joy! My heart is troubled by the news you shared regarding your SIL, but rest assured God hand is upon His own. I pray that the bleak prognosis the doctor painted will not come to pass and that through her God shows everyone the boundlessness of His power. I am trusting in God to guide your SIL’s physicians and caregivers, to place assurance in your family’s hearts that He is in control, and for with whatever the final outcome will be. God brought your SIL this far for a reason, I can’t help, but think there is something miraculous in store. Your music selection this morning is beautifully fitting for your request of prayer. May God’s loving arms surround you & yours, my friend!
