Every year, our community celebrates the 4th of July by hosting a concert and fireworks in the park! Families gather throughout the day for picnics and reunions and then – at nightfall – the main road is shut down and people pour out of their homes and into the streets to watch the fireworks.

I love the sense of camaraderie I feel with the people that gather during this time. Everyone is so friendly and happy – in all of the years I have attended, I have never witnessed even a minor incident!

Being in Australia we dont celebrate 4th of July, but its always interesting to see how everyone celebrates it.
If you have a chance, catch some of the firework displays – the ones in New York are awesome – you can probably see them on You Tube! 🙂

We usually just sit home and watch the Capital fireworks on TV. Of course to watch fireworks all I have to do is walk out the door since my neighborhood is big into it! 😉
