Do you enjoy reading stories about the Amish – or are you interested in learning what makes this genre of fiction so popular?
A Road Unknown is the first book in the Amish Roads Series by Barbara Cameron. This series provides insight into the lives of three young Amish women who must make some difficult choices during rumspringe – that period in a young Amish person’s life when they are allowed to experience the English world before deciding whether to officially join the church.
In A Road Unknown, we meet Elizabeth Bontrager as she is about to board the bus to Paradise – Paradise, Pennsylvania, that is. She hopes that spending time with her English friend Paula will help her to clarify the direction her future should take.
But as Elizabeth develops new relationships, she finds her decision-making process getting increasingly complicated – especially when two men from different backgrounds vie for her attention…
A Road Unknown is an easy-to-read story with an interesting concept tying the series together. I particularly found Barbara’s descriptions of Amish customs helpful.
The book contains Discussion Questions for your enjoyment as well as a glimpse into Crossroads, the second book in the Amish Road Series.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
