Music To Inspire You – Cool Change

Welcome to Music Moves Me!
This week’s theme is #1 Hits On The Billboard Top 40
From The Rock Era – 1955 To Present!

To celebrate August,
I chose Sailing by Christopher Cross for this week’s song!
Sailing was a soft rock song from
Christopher Cross’s self-titled debut album
Which was released in January 1980.
His first single from the album –
Ride Like The Wind –
Rose to #2 on the pop charts and Sailing –
The follow up single –
Hit #1 on Billboard on August 30, 1980.

These songs transformed Christopher
From a completely unknown artist into
One of the biggest stars of the year!

In 1981, Sailing won the Grammy Award for
The Best Record and Best Song;
Christopher Cross won Best Album, and
Christopher himself won Best New Artist.

In 1982, Christopher had his final #1 hit with
Arthur’s Theme (The Best That You Can Do),
Which won the 1082 Oscar for Best Song.

    Hi Ramona,

Like you, I cannot resist the temptation of a delicious and creamy coconut cake, or pie, the latter, I have mastered, if I do say so myself, and which appears on the blog. Thanks so much for sharing all these wonderful features. Have a splendid week!

Oh yes, this song is very inspiring. I can almost imagine laying on the deck of a Sail Boat (although I never been on one), the wind blowing through my hair… Oh boy, what I wouldn’t give to be doing that right now! It’s so hot and muggy in our house this morning. Another week has gone by, and the beginning of another week has started. Time sure does fly by. I don’t remember time going by soooo fast before. Soon summer will be over and winter will have returned. 🙁 Well, at least we’ll be together! HUGS and thanks for joining us too! Great choice… very inspiring!
