The Creole Princess – Book Review
The year is 1776. All along the Eastern seaboard, the struggle for American independence rages on. And – in the Southern port of Mobile Alabama – Lyse Lanier is about to experience a whirlwind of romance, adventure and political intrigue in The Creole Princess by Beth White!
Beautiful Lyse is a Southern girl from a multi-cultural, multi- racial background who finds herself caught in a web of complex relationships where she is torn between loyalties to different factions. She must grow up fast and choose her allegiances carefully.
The Creole Princess is an exciting novel that raises many questions.
Are the people she trusts truly who they appear to be? How do the social and war-related issues of the day, such as slavery and espionage, impact Lyse’s life?
The Creole Princess is a well-researched book that weaves many less commonly known aspects of the American Revolutionary War into its plot. The characters and story are captivating and the novel is quite satisfying.
If you enjoy historical fiction that is not only entertaining but educational and informative as well, then The Creole Princess by Beth White deserves a place on your reading list!
The Creole Princess is Volume 2 of the Gulf Coast Chronicles. This is the first book I have read by Beth and it worked quite well as a standalone novel.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
