Undetected – Book Review
Writing romantic suspense novels can be quite a challenging task, since readers who are drawn to these types of stories invariably prize one element over the other. Authors must masterfully weave both elements into the storyline in just the right ratio or risk disappointing their audience.
Case in point: I was recently drawn to Undetected by Dee Henderson because I believed it was a suspense story with a touch of romance. However, I could not help but want for more when it turned out to be the other way around!
If you are looking for a slow-blooming love story set in the midst of the US naval submarine culture, then you will probably enjoy Undetected by Dee Henderson!
However, if you are looking for a faster-paced novel where painstaking attention to detail does not overshadow the plot, this will not be your cup of tea.
In Undetected, we meet Mark Bishop – the widowed commander of a US nuclear submarine and Gina Gray – the former child science prodigy who now works with the submarine fleet to keep them safe.
Both have a strong sense of duty and responsibility when it comes to work.
Both are looking for love.
Gina’s brother Jeff thinks Mark and Gina would be a perfect match for one another.
However, both Mark and Gina have a lot of self-imposed obstacles to overcome before a romantic relationship would ever be possible…
Although Dee Henderson is a competent writer who obviously spent a lot of time researching her subject matter, the level of detail she pours into Undetected seems like overkill for a love story. A tighter edit would provide a crispness that the book currently lacks.
In addition, the attitudes displayed by the male characters often seem old-fashioned and out of step with the times.
This is my first Dee Henderson novel and – although it wasn’t a bad book – it wasn’t all that I hoped it would be.
I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

I love Dee Hendersons books and have been reading the OMalley series which is my favorite series Dee has written for years. 🙂 thanks for the review!
I may give this one a try. I’ve read a couple of Dee Henderson books and liked them, but I found I preferred Irene Hannon, Dani Pettrey, and Lisa Harris (in that order).

I just read my first Irene Hannon book (Buried Secrets) and will be posting that book review shortly!
Am not familiar with Lisa Harris – have seen Dani’s books around but have not yet had a chance to read them.
Would love your thoughts if you read this! From what I’ve seen, everyone loves Dee’s older works but this one has had some rather mixed reviews.
