The Inn At Ocean’s Edge – Book Review
When Claire Dellamare returns to the Hotel Tourmaline to help her father – the CEO – with an important merger, the last thing she expects to experience is a full-fledged panic attack. But, as she looks around the beautiful hotel – in spite of its idyllic setting – her lungs are on fire and she cannot breathe…
That’s the opening scene from The Inn at Ocean’s Edge – the latest suspense novel from master storyteller Colleen Coble. Whether you are ready to delve into a decades-old mystery or are already a fan of her work, you will want to read this book!
What Claire does not know is that in 1989 – during her 4th birthday party – she disappeared from the Hotel Tourmaline. A year later, she shows up at the Hotel Tourmaline with a note pinned to her dress but no explanation. No one knows what happened to Claire during that time and the secret is buried. Until Claire returns and her repressed memories begin to surface – she doesn’t even know she went missing!
Around the same time that Claire disappeared, Luke Rocco lost his mother under equally mysterious circumstances. A chance encounter leads the two to discover the unlikely link between them. Soon, they set out to discover what happened that fateful year.
However, uncovering the truth of what happened decades before may prove more difficult – and more dangerous – than either Claire or Luke ever imagined. With flashbacks swimming just beneath her consciousness and a murderer threatening her safety, Claire’s very life depends on unscrambling her past . . . even if her family refuses to acknowledge it.
Someone – maybe everyone – is hiding something from Claire, and it will cost her everything to drag the truth out into the light.
This is the third book that I have read by Colleen Coble, and like the two before it, I was immersed in The Inn At Ocean’s Edge from the start! I found the plot compelling – the characters believable – and the setting the perfect backdrop for the story.
Colleen Coble is one of my favorite authors in this genre and I am happy to recommend The Inn At Ocean’s Edge – Book 1 in the new Sunset Cove series – to you!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
